  1. 1. Aspects of heterogeneity : effects of clear-cutting and post-harvest extraction of bioenergy on plants in boreal forests

    Författare :Marcus Åström; Christer Nilsson; Katherine Frego; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :aspect; clear-cutting; disturbance; habitat quality; liverworts; logging residues; mosses; resilience; slash; slope; topography;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract. The objectives of this thesis are to evaluate (1) the influence of slope aspect on boreal plant responses to clear-cutting and (2) the effects of post-harvest extraction of bioenergy (logging residues or slash) on plant composition, richness and performance in clear-cuts. 2. 2. High-Performance Finite Element Methods : with Application to Simulation of Diffusion MRI and Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

    Författare :Van-Dang Nguyen; Johan Hoffman; Johan Jansson; Axel Målqvist; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High performance finite element method; computational diffusion MRI; turbulent flow; vertical axis wind turbine.; Computer Science; Datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : The finite element methods (FEM) have been developed over decades, and together with the growth of computer engineering, they become more and more important in solving large-scale problems in science and industry. The objective of this thesis is to develop high-performance finite element methods (HP-FEM), with two main applications in mind: computational diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and simulation of the turbulent flow past a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT). 3. 3. Ergebnisheterogenität in der strategischen Managementforschung : Analyse und Lösungsmöglichkeiten

    Författare :Norbert Steigenberger; Peter Pawlowsky; Peter Pawlowsky; Dieter Wagner; Germany Chemnitz Technischen Universität Fakultät für Wirtschaftswissenschaften; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Performance; Strategic Management Research; Resource-based view; Meta-Analysis; Decontextualization; Literature Review; Appropriation theory; stakeholder; Leistung; Strategisches Management; Meta-Analyse; Literaturreview; Epistemologie der Strategischen Managementforschung; Resource-based view; Dekontextualisierung; Appropriationstheorie; Stakeholder;

    Sammanfattning : Die Arbeit befasst sich mit Methodenproblemen in der Strategischen Managementforschung. Auf Basis einer Meta-Analyse zum Zusammenhang zwischen Ressourcen im Sinne des Resource-based view und der Performance von Unternehmen werden verschiedene Erklärungen für die zu beobachtende Ergebnisheterogenität in den Primärstudien empirisch gegenübergestellt. 5. 5. Enabling Perceptions of Management Controls : Evidence from International Development Programs

    Författare :Raymond Ndikumana; Tobias Johansson-Berg; Lili-Anne Kihn; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Enabling control; perceptions; development programs; PLS-structural equation modeling; empowerment; performance;

    Sammanfattning : A key challenge for management accounting and control is the extent to which the control’s intentions correlate with how it is received and perceived by those who are subject to it. Building on Adler & Borys’ (1996) enabling and coercive bureaucracy, this thesis explores the role of perception; that is, local actors consider controls as enabling their work instead of privileging only those at the top.
