1. Overtraining, staleness, and burnout in sports
Sammanfattning : Intense and frequently performed physical training can result in both adaptation and maladaptation often referred to as overtraining syndrome/ staleness or burnout depending on the severity of the condition. In Study I, a new conceptual model was presented generating a holistic understanding of both process and outcome; the concept of Total Quality Recovery was also developed. LÄS MER
2. Efficiency factors for space heating system in buildings
Sammanfattning : The thesis focuses on the efficiency of the space heating system. In particular, the efficiency factors measure the efficiency of thermal zone. The efficiency factors measures how the energy is used in a space heating. LÄS MER
3. Aerodynamic Design and Aeromechanical Analysis of Mixed and Radial Flow Turbines : A study on meanline method, stator tilting endwall design and forced response analysis
Sammanfattning : In this energy transition era, turbocharging is still an important technology for the automotive industry to reduce fuel consumption and lower emissions in its vehicles. This importance can be seen from both conventional fossil-fuel powertrains, and emerging applications, such as increased utilization of biofuels along with hydrogen fuel cells. LÄS MER
4. Measurements and Prediction of Friction Drag of Rough Surfaces
Sammanfattning : Owing to the increased sea transportation of goods, the environmental impacts of this activity are becoming more and more important, since a ship experiences resistance that directly affects its performance and fuel consumption. The growth of marine organisms (fouling) on ship hulls increases the roughness of the hull surface, which in turn causes a rise in ship resistance with a consequent increase in fuel consumption and greenhouse emissions of up to 40%. 5. A longitudinal study of cognitive changes after surgical treatment for epilepsy
Sammanfattning : Epilepsy surgery is a valuable therapeutic option for some patients with pharmaco-resistant partial epilepsy, but resection of cortical tissue carries a risk of creating or worsening a dysfunction. Therefore pre-and postoperative levels of cognitive function are systematically monitored in epilepsy surgery programs. LÄS MER
