  1. 1. Prospects for Bioenergy in Europe - Supply, Demand and Trade

    Författare :Karin Ericsson; Miljö- och energisystem; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiforskning; Energy research; biofuel trade; perennial energy crops; co-firing; bioenergy policy; biomass production cost; potential biomass supply; Bioenergy; Europe;

    Sammanfattning : Renewable energy sources (RES), such as biomass, can be used to address two important issues in Europe: climate change and energy security. If biomass is produced sustainably and used efficiently, bioenergy contributes very little to CO2 emissions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Nutrient economy in annual and perennial crops : comparisons between and within crop species in a sustainability context

    Författare :Fereshteh Pourazari; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) of agricultural crops is related to crop nitrogen (N) uptake and thereby the amount of N that is removed from agro-ecosystems through crop harvest. As the N removal through harvest is linked to the fertilization requirements and the risk of N leaching, the crop NUE is an important aspect of sustainability in agriculture. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) – a high-yielding energy crop

    Författare :Thomas Prade; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Bioenergy is currently the fastest growing source of renewable energy. Tighter sustainability criteria for the production of vehicle biofuels and an increasing interest in combined heat and power (CHP) production from biomass have led to a demand for high-yielding energy crops with good conversion efficiencies. 4. 4. Micronutrients in temperate forage crops grown in Sweden : species differences and effects of phenological development and soil

    Författare :Bodil Lindström; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Forage crops are the most important feed for ruminants and provide energy, fibre and protein as well as essential micronutrients such as cobalt (Co), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), molybdenum (Mo) and zinc (Zn). In this thesis, different aspects of the micronutrient concentrations of forage crops were investigated in temporary grasslands in Sweden. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Time-dependent climate impact of short rotation coppice willow–based systems for electricity and heat production

    Författare :Niclas Ericsson; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Fossil fuel use and man-made land use change has increased carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels in the atmosphere, contributing to climate impacts such as global warming. Perennial crops such as short rotation coppice (SRC) willow have received attention because of their potential to sequester carbon (C) from the atmosphere and build up soil organic carbon stocks while producing biomass which can be used to generate energy services.
