1. Neuropsychological Function After Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
Sammanfattning : Despite considerable research efforts, the incidence and mechanisms of diffuse cognitive impairment after coronary artery bypass surgery are not fully understood. The aim of the dissertation was to describe cognitive changes after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and the predictors and consequences thereof. LÄS MER
2. Serum Cholesterol, Lifestyle, Working Capacity and Quality of Life in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease. Experiences from a Hospital-based Secondary Prevention Programme
Sammanfattning : Coronary artery diseases (CAD) are main causes of morbidity and hospitalisation in western countries and CAD patients are at considerable risk of suffering further cardiac events. The development and evaluation of secondary prevention programmes therefore an important task. LÄS MER
3. Vital exhaustion and coronary artery disease in women : biological correlates and behavioral intervention
Sammanfattning : Background: Vital exhaustion - a state characterized by unusual fatigue, irritability, and demoralization - is a predictor of coronary heart disease (CHD). The physiological mechanisms mediating this effect are not fully understood. Vital exhaustion may be decreased by means of behavioral modification. LÄS MER
4. Electrophysiological effects of contrast media. Dynamic vectorcardiographic monitoring of patients during coronary angiography
Sammanfattning : Objective: The aims of this work were to study, by means of dynamic vectorcardiography (VCG), the electrophysiological effects of contrast media (CM) injected into the coronary arteries and to evaluate which VCG variables are most suitable for comparing different CM. We also studied if CM-induced VCG changes differ from those seen after myocardial ischaemia. LÄS MER
5. Evaluation of a multifactorial rehabilitation programme on lifestyle behaviour and secondary prevention in patients with coronary artery disease
Sammanfattning : The objectives of the present work have been to study the effects of a multifactorial rehabilitation programme on rehabilitative and secondary prevention endpoints in patients with coronary artery disease. The programme focused on lifestyle and behavioural changes (smoking, diet, exercise and stress) and was initiated by a four weeks residential stay followed by an eleven months structured follow-up period.
