  1. 1. Mineral fibers, cigarette smoke, and oxidative DNA damage : An experimental study

    Författare :Per Leandersson; Östergötlands Läns Landsting; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : This study concerns the ability of mineral fibers and cigarette smoke to generate reactive oxygen metabolites and to cause damage to DNA. The generation of hydroxyl radicals (OH") was demonstrated by using the DNA base, deoxyguanosine (dG) as a trapping agent for OH" and determining its hydroxylation to 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (80HdG), and oxidative DNA damage was assessed as formation of 80HdG in isolated DNA or in DNA of human lung cells in culture. 2. 2. Novel Methods for Sampling, Characterization and Analysis of Airborne Street Particles in a Health Perspective

    Författare :Ali Reza Nosratabadi; Anders Ljungman; Per Leandersson; Helen Karlsson; Peter Molnár; Henrik Kylin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Fine; Coarse; wear particles; health; Lead; Cadmium; Brake wear particles; Endotoxin; Interleukins; TEOM; IPRL;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decades, there has been much attention on air quality, especially in urban environments. A significant factor effecting the air quality in the urban environment is airborne particulate matter (PM). Long-term exposure to PM causes increased risk for heart disease, decreased lung function, exacerbation of asthma, and lung cancer. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Ovarian cancer. Biomarkers, surgical outcome and survival

    Författare :Pia Leandersson; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epitelial äggstokscancer; biomarkörer; kirurgi; incidens; överlevnad; epithelial ovarian cancer; biomarkers; ovarian cancer surgery; incidence; survival;

    Sammanfattning : Ovarian cancer is the eighth most common female cancer worldwide and the most lethal of the gynaecologic malignancies. Around 700 women are diagnosed in Sweden per year. Due to vague symptoms most of the patients are diagnosed with late-stage epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) and prognosis is poor, with a five-year survival of 49%. LÄS MER
