  1. 1. Synthesis of Aldehyde-Functionalized Building Blocks and Their Use for the Cyclization of Peptides : Applications to Angiotensin II

    Författare :Petra Johannesson; Rob M. J. Liskamp; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Synthesis; Aldehyde; Cyclization; Peptide; Angiotensin II; Ang II; Bioactive Conformation; Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis; Dimethyl Acetal; Farmaceutisk kemi; Syntes; Aldehyd; Cyklisering; Peptid; Bioaktiv konformation; Fast-fas peptidsyntes; Dimetylacetal; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Organic Pharmaceutical Chemistry; organisk farmaceutisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This study addresses the issue of how to convert peptides into drug-like non- peptides with retained biological activities at peptide receptors. Angiotensin II (Asp-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro-Phe, Ang II) was used as a model peptide. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Development of Peptide Binders : Applied to Human CRP, Carbonic Anhydrase (II, IX) and Lysine Demethylase 1

    Författare :Jie Yang; Jan Kihlberg; Morten Grötli; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; polypeptide conjugates; molecular recognition; peptide cyclization; protein targets;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a polypeptide binder concept is illustrated. By conjugation to a set of sixteen polypeptides, a small binding molecule can evolve into a polypeptide binder with increased affinity and selectivity. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Microgel Interactions with Peptides and Proteins : Consequence of Peptide and Microgel Properties

    Författare :Ronja Widenbring; Martin Malmsten; Per Hansson; Catherine Picart; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Binding; Degradation; Enzyme; Gel; Hydrogel; Microgel; Peptide; Protein; Release; Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry; Farmaceutisk fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Microgels are lightly cross-linked hydrogel particles in the sub-micrometer to micrometer size range with a capacity to drastically change their volume in response to changes in the external environment. Microgels have an ability to bind and store substances such as biomacromolecular drugs, notably proteins and peptides, and release them upon stimuli, making them potential candidates as drug delivery vehicles and functional biomaterials. 4. 4. Development and characterisation of protecting groups that enhance the solubility of synthetic peptides : Methods to improve the aqueous solubility of hydrophobic peptides

    Författare :Karolina Wahlström; Anders Undén; Fernando Albericio; Stockholms universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Chemical synthesis of peptides is generally performed by solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). Although SPPS is a rapid and convenient method to prepare peptides, the major methodological problem in SPPS is related to solvation/solubility. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development of Affibody molecules for radionuclide molecular imaging and therapy of cancer

    Författare :Hadis Honarvar; Vladimir Tolmachev; Raymond M. Reilly; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Affibody molecules; HER2; Molecular imaging; Radionuclide targeted therapy; Radionuclide molecular imaging; Labeling chemistry; Biomedical Radiation Science; Biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Affibody molecules are a promising class of scaffold-based targeting proteins for radionuclide-based imaging and therapy of cancer. This thesis work is based on 5 original research articles (papers I-V), which focus on optimization of molecular design of HER2-binding Affibody variants for high contrast imaging of this predictive biomarker as well as development of Affibody molecules suitable for radionuclide-based targeted therapies.
