  1. 16. Kangaroo Mother Care : Parents’ experiences and patterns of application in two Swedish neonatal intensive care units

    Författare :Ylva Thernström Blomqvist; Christine Rubertsson; Kerstin Hedberg Nyqvist; Uwe Ewald; Mats Eriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Kangaroo Mother Care; Neonatal intensive care unit; Preterm infant; Nursing; Parenting; Pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is an alternative model of care that prevents parent-infant separation when preterm infants need neonatal intensive care by skin-to-skin contact between infants and their parents. KMC is also a strategy that involves parents in their infants’ care and enables them to assume the responsibility for the care. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; weight gain; body mass index; BMI; childhood obesity; treatment; intervention; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Childhood obesity is a threat to public health worldwide. In Sweden around 15% of children 5-19 years of age are overweight and 3-4 % have obesity. Early prevention is crucial as are effective treatments for children and adolescents who have already developed obesity. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Effects of feeding term infants low energy low protein formula supplemented with bovine milk fat globule membranes

    Författare :Niklas Timby; Magnus Domellöf; Olle Hernell; Bo Lönnerdal; Ekhard Ziegler; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; infant formula; milk fat globule membranes; energy; protein; growth; cognition; parental control; infection; cholesterol; oral microbiota; Pediatrics; pediatrik;

    Sammanfattning : Background Observational studies have shown that early nutrition influences short- and long-term health of infants. Formula-fed infants have higher protein and energy intakes and lower intakes of several biologically active components present in human milk. Some of these are present in the milk fat globule membrane (MFGM). LÄS MER

  4. 19. End stage renal disease in type 1 diabetes : time trends and risk factors

    Författare :Cecilia Toppe; Anna Möllsten; Gisela Dahlquist; Torild Skrivarhaug; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; End stage renal disease; renal replacement therapy; type 1 diabetes; diabetes nephropathy; socioeconomy and epidemiology; epidemiologi; Epidemiology; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Background and aims: Sweden has a high incidence of type 1 diabetes (T1D) and the incidence is increasing worldwide. The incidence is now twice as high as when the registration of childhood onset T1D in Sweden started in 1977. One of the major risk factors for developing late complications such as renal failure (ESRD) is duration of T1D. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Long QT syndrome in Sweden : founder effects and associated cardiac phenotypes

    Författare :Annika Winbo; Annika Rydberg; Eric Schulze-Bahr; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Long QT Syndrome; Jervell and Lange-Nielsen Syndrome; inherited arrhythmia; founder effects; clinical genetics; haplotype analysis; mutation age; founder mutation; clinical phenotype; life-threatening cardiac events; mutation-specific; KCNQ1 gene; modifier genes; sequence variants; risk stratification; risk factor; gender; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Background: We aimed to increase the knowledge regarding the familial arrhythmogenic disorder Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) and its recessive variant Jervell and Lange-Nielsen Syndrome (JLNS) in Sweden, including prevalences and clinical phenotypes. A specific focus was directed towards two KCNQ1 mutations –p.Y111C and p. LÄS MER
