    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the naming-practice - particularly that of first-names - among men and women in the earliest tax registers of the 1540's from the northernmost Swedish provinces of Västerbotten and Österbotten. The aim of the thesis is first and foremost to describe, and to some extent explain, the naming-practice of the permanent population, with particular reference to the similarities and differences between the two provinces as far as personal names are concerned, and to their frequency and distribution.     Sammanfattning : Starting around 1500 a period of state formation changed the European map. The scattered medieval principalities were replaced with more centralised and better organised states with permanent armies. Sweden was quite successful in competing with these states and experienced a period of expansion. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The present dissertation discusses changes in Swedish popular education from the literacy campaign conducted at the end of the 17th century to the institution of universal elementary education in the middle of the 19th century. The onus is laid on the intense period of reform around 1770-1820, when popular enlightenment became an issue of political debate and both the content and organization of popular education was transformed.
