21. Leisure and muscular performance in health and disease : a study of 40-64-year-old northern Swedes
Sammanfattning : Categories and frequencies of leisureactivities employed by 156 randomly selected males and females aged 40-44, 50-54, 60-64 were investigated by structured interviews and were related to leisuresatisfaction, to experienced health and socio-economic status. In equal numbers (15) of males and females from each group and in 24 males (60 +_6 years) with intermittent claudication (Cl) isokinetic plantar flexion performance was investigated with registrations of peak torque (PT), contractional work (CW), active range-of-motion (RoM) and integrated electromyograms from all threee triceps surae heads. 22. An Intelligent Non-Contact based Approach for Monitoring Driver’s Cognitive Load
Sammanfattning : The modern cars have been equipped with advanced technical features to help make driving faster, safer and comfortable. However, to enhance transport security i.e. to avoid unexpected traffic accidents it is necessary to consider a vehicle driver as a part of the environment and need to monitor driver’s health and mental state. 23. Elite sprinters, ice hockey players, orienteers and marathon runners : isokinetic leg muscle performance in relation to muscle structure and training
Sammanfattning : In male athletes from different sports, isokinetic knee extensor, and in orienteers also plantar flexor peak torque (PT), contractional work (CW) and integrated surface electromyograms (iEMG) were analysed.Single contraction PT, CW and iEMG in sprinters and marathon runners were significantly correlated to the cross-sectional area (CSA) of m. 24. Evaluation of surface electromyography and aspects of muscle strength in persons without motor impairment and in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy
Sammanfattning : Impaired muscle function significantly affects persons with Cerebral Palsy (CP), affects that include muscle strength, fatigue and endurance. This thesis evaluates a test method, an endurance test, and estimates aspects of muscle fatigue and muscle endurance in persons without impaired muscle function and in children with CP. LÄS MER
25. Exploiting over-actuation for improved active safety of autonomous electric vehicles
Sammanfattning : The increasing demand for road vehicles has led to challenging road safety and environmental issues. The deployment of active safety systems and autonomous vehicles can contribute to safer roads by assisting or replacing human drivers in the task of maintaining vehicle control in critical conditions: e.g., an obstacle-avoidance manoeuvre.
