  1. 1. Novel Microfluidic Devices Based on a Thermally Responsive PDMS Composite

    Författare :Björn Samel; Göran Stemme; Jörg Kutter; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEMS; microsystem technology; micro total analysis system; lab-on-a-chip; microfluidics; composite actuator; expandable microspheres; PDMS; poly dimethylsiloxane; disposable; wafer bonding; adhesive bonding; PDMS bonding; adhesive PDMS bonding; selective PDMS bonding; microcontact printing; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The field of micro total analysis systems (μTAS) aims at developments toward miniaturized and fully integrated lab-on-a-chip systems for applications, such as drug screening, drug delivery, cellular assays, protein analysis, genomic analysis and handheld point-of-care diagnostics. Such systems offer to dramatically reduce liquid sample and reagent quantities, increase sensitivity as well as speed of analysis and facilitate portable systems via the integration of components such as pumps, valves, mixers, separation units, reactors and detectors. 2. 2. Microfluidics in Surface Modified PDMS : Towards Miniaturized Diagnostic Tools

    Författare :Sara Thorslund; Fredrik Nikolajeff; Jonas Bergquist; Elisabeth Verpoorte; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Materials science; µTAS; micro total analysis system; PDMS; poly dimethylsiloxane ; microfluidics; heparin; blood filtration; on-chip; ESI-MS; desalting; QCM-D; biocompatible; CD4; capillary flow; lab-on-chip; microfabrication; enrichment; point-of-care; hydrophilic; oxidation; Materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : There is a strong trend in fabricating miniaturized total analytical systems, µTAS, for various biochemical and cell biology applications. These miniaturized systems could e.g. gain better separation performances, be faster, consume less expensive reagents and be used for studies that are difficult to access in the macro world. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Routinizing Workarounds : The Case of a Mandated PDMS in Critical Care

    Författare :Thomas Ejnefjäll; Pär Ågerfalk; Magnus Rotvit Perlt Hansen; Franck Tétard; Ulf Melin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; workaround; routines; routine dynamics; mandated; PDMS; healthcare; critical care; Information Systems; Informationssystem;

    Sammanfattning : Workarounds are an emerging area within information systems (IS) research where contributions are increasing but there seem to be different views on what constitutes a workaround. While some aspects of workarounds have attracted considerable research attention and show a high degree of consensus, other aspects contain scarce or conflicting findings. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Silicone biomaterials obtained by plasma treatment and subsequent surface hydrosilylation

    Författare :Björn Olander; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Silicone elastomers; PDMS; XPS; ESCA; surface modification; plasma;

    Sammanfattning : The need for safe and functional implants has led to anincreased demand for improved biomaterials. The performance invivo depends on the interaction between the biologicalsurrounding and the surface of the material. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Integration of Surface Acoustic Wave and Microfluidic Technologies for Liquid-Phase Sensing Applications

    Författare :Kiryl Kustanovich; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; IDE; Resonator; SH-SAW; Impedance Spectroscopy; Surface Acoustic Wave; PDMS; LiNbO3; Microfluidics; Sensor;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis discusses a new concept for construction of a novel SAW in-liquid sensor employing surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) in a one-port configuration. In this concept, the reflective gratings of a one-port SAW resonator are employed as mass loading-sensing elements, while the SAW transducer is protected from the measurement environment, reducing power losses significantly.
