  1. 1. Train your brain : updating, transfer, and neural changes

    Författare :Erika Dahlin; Lars Nyberg; Anna Stigsdotter Neely; Torkel Klingberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; cognitive training; executive functioning; transfer; fMRI; brain system; young adults; elderly; practice; neural correlates; individual differences; Experimental brain research; Experimentell hjärnforskning; Cognitive science; Kognitionsforskning; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : An initial aim of this thesis was to determine whether training of a specific executive function (updating) produces improvements in performance on trained and transfer tasks, and whether the effects are maintained over time. Neural systems underlying training and transfer effects were also investigated and one question considered is whether transfer depends on general or specific neural overlap between training and transfer tasks. 2. 2. Sources of dioxins and other POPs to the marine environment : Identification and apportionment using pattern analysis and receptor modeling

    Författare :Kristina Sundqvist; Karin Wiberg; Mats Tysklind; Paul Geladi; Miriam Diamond; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; air-water gas exchange; chiral; congener pattern; enantiomer; enantiomeric fraction; fugacity; HCH; hexachlorocyclohexane; homologue profile; indicator congener; isomer pattern; pattern analysis; PCA; PCB; PCDD F; PMF; polychlorinated dibenzofuran; polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin; polychlorinated biphenyl; positive matrix factorization; principal component analysis; receptor modeling; source apportioning; source; source tracing; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Persistent organic compounds; Persistenta organiska föreningar;

    Sammanfattning : In the studies underlying this thesis, various source tracing techniques were applied to environmental samples from the Baltic region. Comprehensive sampling and analysis of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) in surface sediments in Swedish coastal and offshore areas resulted in a unique data set for this region. 3. 3. Opportunistic Networking : Congestion, Transfer Ordering and Resilience

    Författare :Fredrik Bjurefors; Per Gunningberg; Christian Rohner; Mario Gerla; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Opportunistic Networking; Congestion; Transfer Ordering; Resilience; Testbed; WISENET; Datavetenskap med inriktning mot datorkommunikation; Computer Science with specialization in Computer Communication;

    Sammanfattning : Opportunistic networks are constructed by devices carried by people and vehicles. The devices use short range radio to communicate. Since the network is mobile and often sparse in terms of node contacts, nodes store messages in their buffers, carrying them, and forwarding them upon node encounters. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Experimental Heat Transfer, pressure drop, and Flow Visualization of R-134a in Vertical Mini/Micro Tubes

    Författare :Wahib Owhaib; Björn Palm; Tassos Karayiannis; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Minichannel; microchannel; heat transfer; pressure drop; single-phase; two-phase; flow boiling; flow visualization; dry out; bubble behavior; flow pattern.; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : For the application of minichannel heat exchangers, it is necessary to have accurate design tools for predicting heat transfer and pressure drop. Until recently, this type of heat exchangers was not well studied, and in the scientific literature there were large discrepancies between results reported by different investigators. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Plant lipid transfer proteins : Evolution, expression and function

    Författare :Monika Edstam; Johan Edqvist; Kristina Blomqvist; Jenny Hagenblad; Frederica Theodoulou; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The plant non-specific lipid transfer proteins (nsLTPs) are known for the ability to transfer different lipids in vitro, but their in vivo functions have not yet been elucidated. They seem to play a role in the defense against biotic and abiotic stresses; the gene expression of nsLTPs is often upregulated when exposed to stresses. LÄS MER
