  1. 11. Drug Partitioning into Natural and Artificial Membranes : Data Applicable in Predictions of Drug Absorption

    Författare :Caroline Engvall; Birgitta Tomkinson; Katarina Edwards; Sven Engström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Bilayer disk; Cholesterol; Drug partitioning; Drugs; Electrostatic effects; Immobilized liposome chromatography; Liposome; Membrane protein; Model membrane; Oligonucleotide-liposome complex; Phospholipid; Phospholipid bilayer; Proteoliposome; Surfactant; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : When drug molecules are passively absorbed through the cell membrane in the small intestine, the first key step is partitioning of the drug into the membrane. Partition data can therefore be used to predict drug absorption. LÄS MER

  2. 12. The Use of Aliquat-336 in a Partitioning and Transmutation Process and a Kinetic Study of the Oxidation of U(IV) to U(VI)

    Författare :Anders Landgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; partitioning; quaternary ammonium salts; transmutation; hydrolysis; Aliquat-336; liquid-liquid extraction; kinetics; oxidation; uranium IV ;

    Sammanfattning : Spent nuclear fuel contains several long-lived radionuclides that must be stored in a safe manner for a long time. Transmutation of these radionuclides into short-lived or stable nuclides reduces the necessary storage time by several orders of magnitude. The nuclides most suitable for transmutation are those of the actinides. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Data Partitioning Methods and Parallel Block-Oriented PDE Solvers

    Författare :Jarmo Rantakokko; Michael Thuné; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; data assimilation; data partitioning; meteorology; multiblock; Navier-Stokes; object-oriented; oceanography; parallel computing; Numerical Analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Sammanfattning : Data partitioning methods for block-structured problems within scientific computing have been studied. The applications are variational data assimilation in meteorology, ocean modeling, and airflow simulation with multiblock grids. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Adaptive Resource Management Techniques for High Performance Multi-Core Architectures

    Författare :Nadja Holtryd; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cache Partitioning; Bandwidth Partitioning; Resource Management; Performance Isolation; Multi-Core Architectures; Prefetch Throttling;

    Sammanfattning : Reducing the average memory access time is crucial for improving the performance of applications executing on multi-core architectures. With workload consolidation this becomes increasingly challenging due to shared resource contention. Previous works has proposed techniques for partitioning of shared resources (e.g. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Chromatographic Studies of Solute Interactions with Immobilized Red Blood Cells and Biomembranes

    Författare :Ingo Gottschalk; Irving W. Wainer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Affinity; Binding; Biomembrane; Biotin; Chromatography; Cytochalasin B; Dissociation constant; Drug absorption; Equilibrium; Glucose; GLUT1; Immobilization; Immobilized biomembrane affinity chromatography; Immobilized liposome chromatography; Interaction; Liposome; Membrane protein; Membrane vesicle; Partitioning; Phospholipid bilayer; Proteoliposome; Quantitative; Red blood cell; Solute; Specific; Streptavidin; Wheat germ agglutinin; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Specific and non-specific interactions of solutes with immobilized biomembranes were studied using chromatographic methods. Liposomes, proteoliposomes and red blood cell (RBC) membrane vesicles were immobilized by a freeze-thawing procedure, whereas whole RBCs were adsorbed in the gel beds using electrostatic interaction, binding to wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) or the streptavidin-biotin interaction.
