  1. 1. Regional studies of the optical, chemical and microphysical properties of atmospheric aerosols : Radiative impacts and cloud formation

    Författare :Admir Créso Targino; Douglas Nilsson; Radovan Krejci; Richard Leaitch; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric aerosols; particles; optical properties; cloud; ice crystals; chemical composition; Atmosphere and hydrosphere sciences; Atmosfärs- och hydrosfärsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric particles are ubiquitous in the Earth’s atmosphere and have potential to influence atmospheric chemistry, visibility, global climate and human health, particularly downwind from major pollution sources. The main objective of this thesis was to investigate questions pertaining to the microphysical, chemical and optical properties of aerosol particles by using in situ data collected during four experiments carried out in different regions of the Northern Hemisphere. 2. 2. Aerosols of Isocyanates, Amines and Anhydrides : Sampling and Analysis

    Författare :Jakob Dahlin; Gunnar Skarping; Robert P. Streicher; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; isocyanate; amine; aminoisocyanate; organic acid anhydride; denuder; impactor; impinger; air sampling; LC-MS; LC-CLND; di-n-butylamine; DBA; thermal degradation; aerosol; particles; TDI; MDI; HDI; ICA; MIC; IPDI; exposure; occupational health; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents methods for air sampling and determination of isocyanates, amines, aminoisocyanates and anhydrides. These organic compounds are generated during thermal degradation of polymers such as polyurethane (PUR) or epoxy.Isocyanates, amines and anhydrides are airway irritants known to cause occupational asthma. 3. 3. On the lifecycle of aerosol particles : Sources and dispersion over Scandinavia

    Författare :Peter Tunved; Hans-Christen Hansson; Johan Ström; Douglas Nilsson; Urs Baltensperger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aerosols; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Aerosol particles are likely important contributors to our future climate. Further, during recent years, effects on human health arising from emissions of particulate material have gained increasing attention. LÄS MER

  4. 4. On the Determination of Reactive Compounds in Aerosols

    Författare :Mårten Spanne; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; industrial hygiene; isocyanates; particles; sampling; aerosols; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp;

    Sammanfattning : Many sources of airborne contaminants have always been present in various work environments. With the development of thermosetting plastic systems, the use of reactive chemical compounds was greatly increased and thus also the risk of exposure to reactive and potentially hazardous compounds. 5. 5. Factors influencing emission fluxes and bacterial enrichment in sea spray aerosols : Insights from laboratory and field studies

    Författare :Julika Zinke; Matthew E. Salter; Paul Zieger; Rachel A. Foster; E. Douglas Nilsson; Patricia K. Quinn; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sea spray aerosols; eddy covariance fluxes; air-sea-exchange; bacteria; primary biological airborne particles; laboratory studies; field studies; Baltic Sea; North-Eastern Atlantic; Environmental Sciences; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Sea spray aerosol (SSA) is one of the major natural aerosol sources and is produced when wave breaking entrains air into ocean surface water, which subsequently breaks up into bubbles. These bubbles rise to the surface and can scavenge biogenic material. LÄS MER
