  1. 1. Particle Measurements Using Fluctuations in the Regular Transmittance of Light Through a Particle Dispersion : Concentration and Particles size - Theory, Measurement Principles and Applications for Pulp and Paper Production

    Författare :Staffan Rydefalk; Lars Mattsson; John Gregory; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Particle concentration; Particle size; Cylindrical particles; Large particles; Cellulose fibres; Wood pulp fibres; Suspensions; Particle length; Particle length distribution; Particle width; Manufacturing engineering; Produktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The regular transmittance of light or similar radiation through a flowing suspension of particles fluctuates because of the random occurrence of particles in the beam.In the work presented here, a theory for this fluctuating behaviour with the emphasison dispersions of mm-length slender cylindrical particles having circular crosssections is given. 2. 2. Particle dynamics during biomass devolatilization : Momentum exchange and particle dispersion

    Författare :Angel David Garcia Llamas; Kentaro Umeki; Rikard Gebart; Per Gren; Peter Glarborg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomass; devolatilization; rocketing; PIV; PTV; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Devolatilization is a heat-driven thermochemical process in which a liquid or a solid fuel releases mass in the form of volatile compounds after drying, as a result of the combination of endothermic and exothermic reactions. It differs from pyrolysis in that it does not require an inert atmosphere and that the reactant must be either solid or liquid. LÄS MER

  3. 3. On Particle Transport and Turbulence Modification in Air-Particle Flows

    Författare :Camilla Ljus; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; turbulent dispersion; hot film probe; turbulence measurements; turbulence modification; particle transport; two-fluid model;

    Sammanfattning : The transport of particles by airflow was studied for two different flow cases, the transport of pulp fibres in a mat-forming process and the transport of pulp fibres and spherical particles in a horizontal pipe. The transport of pulp fibres in the mat-forming process is first considered. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Eulerian-Lagrangian modeling of particle motion in exhaust gas aftertreatment systems

    Författare :Henrik Ström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; urea-SCR; particle trapping; flow-through filter; urea decomposition; diesel particulate matter; particle motion; particle filter; AdBlue-spray; Eulerian-Lagrangian modeling;

    Sammanfattning : In the work to design and optimize new aftertreatment system devices for NOx reduction and particulate matter removal in lean engine exhaust (such as diesel exhaust), it is of great help to be able to perform quick, robust and reliable computer simulations of system performance. A suitable platform for such simulations is Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Snow Contamination of Cars: Adhesive Particle Collisions with Exterior Surfaces

    Författare :Tobias Eidevåg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; icing; particle laden flow; turbulent dispersion; premelting; sensor availability; exterior soiling; snow physics; particle resuspension; snow adhesion;

    Sammanfattning : An ongoing challenge regarding autonomous vehicles is the obstruction of sensors by contaminants on exterior surfaces. This often occurs when driving in harsh weather conditions, where the contaminant can be, for example, water spray, dirt, or snow. LÄS MER
