  1. 1. Cerebral Hemodynamics through Intracrnial Pressure

    Författare :Sima Shahsavari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Intracranial dynamics; Baroreceptor reflex; Secondary brain injury; Traumatic brain injury; Collapsible tubes; Intracranial pressure; Cushing reflex; Pulse wave propagation; Cerebral autoregulation; Cerebral compliance; Mathematical modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) continues to be a major problem worldwide. Today, intensive care of patients with TBI is mainly focused on preventing and treating secondary brain injuries. High pressure inside the intracranial cavity has been found to be an important feature of disturbed cerebral dynamics and secondary injuries. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Flow, expansion and processing behaviours of gas-containing filled polyethylene

    Författare :Nabil Khoshaba; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mechanical properties; flow rate; critical pressure; injection moulding; expansion kinetics; fillers; rheological properties; foaming; composite materials; partial pressure; capillary viscometry; Blowing agent;

    Sammanfattning : The utilization of fillers in polymeric materials has exhibited a substantial growth during the last decades. Chalk (calcium carbonate) and glass fibres are two common examples of such fillers. These fillers/reinforcing elements are used in order to reduce the cost of material and change its physical (mechanical) properties. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Partial methane oxidation from electronic structure calculations

    Författare :Adam Arvidsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ZSM-5 zeolite; density functional theory; microkinetic modelling; Mo6S8 cluster; partial methane oxidation;

    Sammanfattning : Investigating catalytic reactions with computational methods is a powerful approach to understand fundamental aspects of catalytic reactions and find ways to guide catalytic design. Partial methane oxidation is one example of a reaction with intriguing challenges, where a detailed atomistic approach may help to unravel the bottlenecks of this, as of yet, inefficient reaction. 4. 4. Sulfur Capture and Oxidation of Calcium Sulfide in PFBC

    Författare :Kuanrong Qiu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oxidation; model; pressure; sulfur; PFBC; CaS; limestone; CaSO4; PTGA; regeneration;

    Sammanfattning : Sorbents such as limestone are successfully used for removal of SO2 during pressurized fluidized bed combustion (PFBC) processes. However, there still remains a strong incentive to reduce the consumption of such sorbents. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Assessment of increased upper airway resistance in snorers. Methodological and diagnostic considerations

    Författare :Sören Berg; Lund näs- och halssjukdomar Öron-; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; arousals.; pharyngeal pressure; intrathoracic pressure; hypopnea; respiratory ventilation; oxygenation; Non apneic snorers; upper airway obstruction; Otorhinolaryngology; audiology; auditive system and speech; Otorinolaryngologi; audiologi; hörsel- och talorganen;

    Sammanfattning : Sleep-related partial upper airway obstruction may cause increased morbidity and mortality, but diagnosis and treatment of patients is varying and inconsistent. The present studies were aimed to evaluate presently applied indirect methods for assessing respiratory ventilation and to investigate the value and accuracy in estimating upper airway resistance during sleep by measuring intrathoracic pressure variation with a microchip catheter in the esophagus.
