Sammanfattning : The theme of this dissertation is the way in which the process of becoming a father is experienced, constituted, and constructed in Sweden in the 1990's. From the perspective of cultural analysis, I seek to discuss what men who become fathers today see as important in the constitution of themselves as parents and what is important in the eyes of other people; what occasions and actiona are significant, what procedures one can or should gp through, and how they are perceived; and how these men differ from fathers in previous generations and how they view this. 22. Normaliserade föräldrar : en undersökning av Försäkringskassans broschyrer 1974–2007
Sammanfattning : The main purpose of this dissertation is to analyse and identify problems arising from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency’s (SSIA) perceptions of parents, as they appear in the brochures targeted at expectant or new parents between 1974 and 2007. The aim is to distinguish who are being pointed out, constructed, and normalised as parents; and to analyse the functions of the recipients and the senders respectively. LÄS MER
23. Essays on Income and Fertility: Sweden 1968-2009
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this dissertation is to produce a cohesive study on how income is related to different events that constitute fertility, such as entry into parenthood, continued childbearing, and the risk of remaining childless. Relying on register-based longitudinal data on men and women living in Sweden between 1968 and 2009, this study aims to contribute to the literature by providing insight into whether or not income facilitates fertility and how it changes across parity transitions, gender, and educational attainment. 25. Parental and embryonic behaviours in precocial birds
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with behaviours during reproduction in precocial birds, both from the perspective of the female and of the embryos. Female pheasants in good physical condition laid larger eggs and produced a higher proportion of daughters than females in poor condition. LÄS MER
