Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three essays on parental leave uptake and other parental behaviors, investigating the effects of social gender norms, gender-role stereotypes, and parental child gender bias.Essay 1 (co-authored with Jens Agerström and Magnus Carlsson): We investigate how social gender norms influence parental leave uptake intentions by conducting two separate survey experiments on prospective fathers (N = 877) and mothers (N = 882) in the UK. Sammanfattning : Aim: To study children/adolescents with externalizing behavior and a subgroup diagnosed ADHD, regarding oral health, oral health behavior, and the parents' evaluation on their child’s oral health and dental experience. Sammanfattning : Previously studies in parenting have mainly been conducted in Western countries. Not uncommonly results from such studies are used to describe general, worldwide trends. 4. On innate behaviors : focus on parental behavior and aggression
Sammanfattning : The neural substrates orchestrating a number of social behaviors, including parental behavior and aggression, are known to exist in the hypothalamus. Through the control of the pituitary gland, the hypothalamus regulates the release of a number of hormones necessary for the physiological control of bodily functions and the expression of appropriate behaviors.
