11. Educational and Occupational Careers in a Swedish Cohort
Sammanfattning : This thesis includes four empirical studies investigating factors related to educational and occupational careers in a Swedish cohort born in 1953. Data from the longitudinal “Stockholm Birth Cohort study” (SBC) are used. In Studies I & II I investigate educational careers among children whose parents were interviewed as part of the SBC study. 12. Community stress exposure: Youth externalizing behavior and parenting in cultural context
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to examine the process by which families respond to community-wide stressors in different cultural contexts. Each quantitative study within this thesis investigated the role of parenting behaviors and aspects of the co-parent relationship and/or the parent-child relationship that may attenuate negative effects of exposure to stressful events across cultures and time. Sammanfattning : In research on family democracy there has been a tradition to focus on parents as leaders setting up the family climate. This dissertation challenged this perspective. 15. Ladnaan : evaluation of a culturally tailored parenting support program to Somali-born parents
Sammanfattning : Background: Research shows that immigrant families encounter different complexities and challenges in a new host country, such as acculturation, isolation and lack of social support. These challenges have been shown to have negative impacts on immigrant families’ mental and emotional health, family function, parenting practices and parents’ sense of competence. LÄS MER
