1. Social anxiety disorder in children and adolescents : assessment, maintaining factors, and treatment
Sammanfattning : The present dissertation consists of three empirical studies on social anxiety disorder (SAD) in a sample of Swedish children and adolescents. Based on findings made in a large behavior treatment study, the thesis contributes to the field of research on childhood SAD by investigating a factor that maintains the disorder, ways to measure and screen for diagnosis, and the treatment of the disorder. Sammanfattning : The present dissertation consists of three empirical studies on children and adolescents presenting with various specific phobias in Stockholm, Sweden and in Virginia, USA. The overall aim was to contribute to our understanding of childhood fears, anxiety and phobias and to evaluate the efficacy and portability of a one-session treatment of specific phobias in youth. 3. Assessing and treating three to twelve-year-olds displaying disruptive behaviour problems
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was (a) to examine a Swedish version of a measure for early identification and treatment evaluation of children with disruptive behaviour problems and (b) to explore the effectiveness, in terms of reduction of children’s disruptive behavioural problems, of interventions not specifically directed towards the children but to their caregivers and other adults in their immediate environment. 4. Boys with Asperger Syndrome grown up. A longitudinal follow-up study of 100 cases more than 5 years after original diagnosis
Sammanfattning : Introduction and aims: In 1981, the diagnostic label of Asperger Syndrome (AS), was coined after the Austrian paediatrician Hans Asperger, by the English psychiatrist Lorna Wing, who reintroduced his 1944 work about ?die autistischen Psychopathen im Kindesalter?, so as to have a concept for relatively high functioning individuals with problems in the ?autism spectrum?. Little is known about the risk factors and outcome of AS and whether or not they are different from those of autism. LÄS MER
5. Turn-taking and early phonology : Contingency in parent-child interaction and assessment of early speech production
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on contingency in parent-child interaction, investigating it in the light of the linguistic capacity of the child and the status of the caregiver.
