16. Absorbed Dose Determination and Characteristics of Degraded Electron Beams: Application to Intraoperative Radiation Therapy
Sammanfattning : The aim of this work was to quantify limitations of and uncertainties in commonly used dosimetric techniques for relative absorbed dose determination in degraded electron beams, such as those encountered in intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) and small-electron-field radiotherapy. Three different detector types were investigated with regard to measurements of output factors and relative absorbed dose distributions: (1) a parallel-plate ionization chamber, (2) a p-type silicon diode detector and (3) a diamond detector. 17. Capturing the breath of the heart by magnetic resonance imaging : five-dimensional cardio-respiratory resolved cine imaging during free breathing
Sammanfattning : Cardiac imaging with cardiovascular magnetic resonance has the advantage of enabling dynamic visualizations, several quantifiable measures, and good soft-tissue contrast. However, a major drawback is the need for breath holding during many acquisitions to limit motion artifacts. LÄS MER
18. Patient-Specific Finite Element Modeling of the Blood Flow in the Left Ventricle of a Human Heart
Sammanfattning : Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the world. Therefore, numerous studies are undertaken to identify indicators which can be applied to discover cardiac dysfunctions at an early age. LÄS MER
19. Spatial proteome profiling of the compartments of the human cell using an antibody-based approach
Sammanfattning : The human cell is complex, with countless processes ongoing in parallel in specialized compartments, the organelles. Cells can be studied in vitro by using immortalized cell lines that represent cells in vivo to a varying degree. LÄS MER
20. Photoemission Electron Microscopy for Ultrafast Nano-Optics - Femtoseconds to Attoseconds
Sammanfattning : Ultrafast nano-optics is a new and quickly evolving research field centred around the control, manipulation, and application of light on a nanometre and femtosecond scale. This can lead to improved electro-optical devices, more sensitive spectroscopy, and real-time control of chemical reactions. LÄS MER
