1. Additive-Driven Improvements in Interfacial Properties and Processing of TMP-Polymer Composites
Sammanfattning : Efforts to address environmental concerns have resulted in new regulations designed to plan the reduction of plastic and synthetic polymer usage, necessitating the search for sustainable natural alternatives with comparable cost-effectiveness and mechanical performance. Thermomechanical pulp (TMP) fibres are one of the most affordable natural fibres that have no chemical refining in production, production have a high yield of 90-98% and TMP fibres have been demonstrated to improve the mechanical characteristics (strength, stiffness and toughness) of wood-polymer composites (WPCs) compared to the pure polymer. 2. Structure-Performance Relations of Oxygen Barriers for Food Packaging
Sammanfattning : Food packaging should ensure the safety and quality of food, minimize spoilage and provide an easy way of storing and handling it. Barrier coatings are generally used to meet the demands placed on fibre-based food packages, as these have the ability to regulate the amount of gases that can enter them. LÄS MER
3. Coagulation of Cellulose: from Ionic-Liquid Solution to Cellulose Nanostructure
Sammanfattning : Abstract A linear chain of glucose monomers, cellulose, provides the structural reinforcement of the cell walls of plants and constitutes almost half of their dry mass. Wood and other plant-based raw materials are processed on a large industrial scale to isolate the cellulose, which is then dissolved. LÄS MER
4. Energy Efficient Textile Drying
Sammanfattning : Traditionally, textiles were dried outdoors with the wind and the sun enhancing the drying process. Tumble dryers offer a fast and convenient way of drying textiles independent of weather conditions. Tumble dryers, however, consume large amounts of electrical energy. LÄS MER
5. Strategies for Renewable Barriers with Enhanced Performance
Sammanfattning : Forest biomass is expected to play an increasingly important role in tomorrow´s global bio-economy as one of the main renewable sources of materials, chemicals and energy. In the framework of the biorefinery concept, the forestry industry is looking for new processes to utilize several fractions in the biomass (cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin etc. LÄS MER
