21. Advances and Applications of Antibody Arrays - Proteomic Profiling of Pancreatic Disease
Sammanfattning : Recombinant antibody microarrays have advanced into indispensable tools for large-scale, high-throughput multiplexed serum proteomics. This thesis, based upon five original papers, deals with the development of an in-house designed antibody microarray platform, and its applications for serum profiling of pancreatic disease. LÄS MER
22. Maf and Mitf transcription factors regulate pancreatic endocrine cell differentiation and function
Sammanfattning : Diabetes - the imbalance in glucose homeostasis is partially caused by loss or dysfunction of pancreatic insulin producing β cells or development of insulin resistance. In Type 1 diabetes β cells are destroyed in the process of an autoimmune attack, whereas in Type 2 diabetes, islets produce insufficient amounts of insulin or the insulin cannot be used adequately. 23. Repurposing digitoxin in the treatment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma : genotypic and phenotypic features as biomarkers for digitoxin sensitivity in vitro
Sammanfattning : The incidence of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is increasing worldwide. The dismal prognosis and lack of effective treatments urges for increased research efforts in developing new treatment regimens. Since the development of new cancer treatments are expensive and time consuming, repurposing drugs is preferable when possible. LÄS MER
24. Epidemiology and etiology of pancreatic cancer
Sammanfattning : Pancreatic cancer is one of the most devastating malignancies with an extremely high fatality, resulting that its mortality rate almost equals to incidence rate. Although primary prevention is of upmost importance, the underlying etiology of this cancer remains largely unknown. LÄS MER
25. Electrophysiology of pancreatic A-, B- and D-cells studied in intact mouse islets of Langerhans
Sammanfattning : Abstract The electrophysiological properties of insulin-secreting b-cells, glucagon-releasing a-cells and somatostation-producing d-cells in intact mouse pancreatic islets were investigated using the perforated patch whole-cell technique. It is demonstrated that it is possible to functionally identify the different cell types in situ. LÄS MER
