2. Pair production, vacuum birefringence and radiation reaction in strong field QED
Sammanfattning : In this thesis we consider three QED phenomena in strong electromagnetic fields: Schwinger pair production, vacuum birefringence and radiation reaction. We study electron-positron pair production in a variety of field configurations and, using complex worldline instantons, reveal new insights into the case of fields with lightlike inhomogeneities. 3. From Strange to Charm : Meson production in electron-positron collisions

Sammanfattning : After the discovery of the Higgs boson, the ultimate test of the electroweak symmetry breaking and the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics is to establish evidence of Higgs boson self-coupling, which can be achieved by searching for pair production of Higgs bosons. 5. Non-Perturbative Quantum Field Theory in Extreme Environments
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to describe some physical systems which can be treated by non-perturbative methods in quantum field theory.
