1. Life History of the Common Gull (Larus canus) : A Long-Term Individual-Based Study
Sammanfattning : An individual’s life history is a sequence of events which eventually determine its contribution to the next generation, or fitness. These events are affected by environmental factors, genetic make-up and decisions made by an individual and its breeding partner. LÄS MER
2. Transition metal oxofluorides comprising lone pair elements : Synthesis and Characterization
Sammanfattning : Within the family of transition metal oxochlorides/bromides containing lone pair elements, the transition metal cations often adopt a low-dimensional arrangement such as 2D layers, 1D chains or 0D clusters. The reduced dimensionality is attributed to the presence of stereochemically active lone pairs which are positioned in the non-bonding orbital and will not participate in bond formation and instead act as structural spacers that help to separate coordination polyhedra around transition metal cations from forming three dimensional networks. 3. Trapping Tyrosine Z : Exploring the Relay between Photochemistry and Water Oxidation in Photosystem II
Sammanfattning : Photosystem II is unique! It remains the only enzyme that can oxidize water using light as energy input. Water oxidation in photosystem II is catalyzed by the CaMn4 cluster. The electrons extracted from the CaMn4 cluster are transferred to P680+ via the tyrosine residue D1-Tyr161 (YZ). LÄS MER
4. Enzyme Cold Adaptation through Evolution of Protein Flexibility
Sammanfattning : What lives, evolves. Macromolecular catalysis is a process, central to both evolutionary and metabolic aspect of life, as it provides a systematic bias favouring certain chemical processes. LÄS MER
5. The structural chemistry of niobium and tantalum oxide fluorides containing divalent lead
Sammanfattning : The coordination about divalent lead in oxides and fluorides if reviewed with special reference to the stereochemical activity of the lone pair. An attempt has been made to identify fluorine atoms by using bond strength calculations. LÄS MER
