  1. 1. Back pain in men. A prospective study over twenty years

    Författare :Anna-Lisa Hellsing; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Back pain; neck pain; follow-up; work environment; stress; screening examination; self-administered test; overweight; smoking; military service;

    Sammanfattning : The initial objective of this thesis was to design a method in order to identify individuals, with a back pain which was in risk of deteriorating during the military service. Those who enlisted during a six-month period answered questions about back pain, and a sub-group was also clinically examined. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Sacroiliac pain-provocation testing in physiotherapy : time and force recording

    Författare :Ulla Levin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Biomechanics; Clinical assessment; Force; Pain-provocation tests; Physical examination; Reliability; Reproducibility; Sacroiliac joint; Sensitivity; Specificity; Validity;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Some of the tests used for examining pain arising from the sacroiliac region are intended to provoke pain by using manually applied forces. Previous reliability and validity studies of sacroiliac pain-provocation tests show conflicting results, which may be due to lack of standardized force exposure. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Back pain post partum : clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Lena Nilsson-Wikmar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Activity limitations; back pain; kinematics; lifting; mobility; pain; pain provocation test; pelvic girdle pain; physiotherapy; pregnancy; post partum; rehabilitation; women;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Half or more of pregnant women experience back pain at some time during pregnancy. Even though back pain exists post partum, it is not well documented and detailed studies concerning different back pain localisations, experiences of pain and activity abilities are scarce. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Human brain function evaluated with rCBF-SPECT : memory and pain related changes and new diagnostic possibilities in Alzheimer’s disease

    Författare :Torbjörn Sundström; Katrine Riklund; Rimma Danielsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; brain imaging; rCBF; SPECT; early diagnosis; brain atlas; HMPAO; Alzheimer´s disease; Whiplash; neuropsychological function; episodic memory; Diagnostic radiology; Diagnostisk radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this doctoral thesis was to study the influence of memory, pain, age and education on the regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF), i.e. brain function, in early Alzheimer's disease (AD) and in chronic neck pain patients in comparison to healthy controls and in healthy elderly per se. 5. 5. Exercising the brain in pain : using fMRI to investigate intrinsic connectivity, cognition and pain regulation in fibromyalgia and how this is affected by physical exercise

    Författare :Sofia Martinsen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the studies of this thesis were to use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate cerebral activation patterns in fibromyalgia (FM) patients and healthy controls (HC) at rest, when performing the stroop colour word test (SCWT) and during pressure pain provocation. Distraction induced analgesia (DIA), performance on the SCWT and pressure pain sensitivity was investigated on the behavioural and psychophysical level. LÄS MER
