  1. 1. The activation and regulation of plasmacytoid dendritic cells in SLE : and possible therapeutic interventions

    Författare :Karin Hjorton; Lars Rönnblom; Maija-Leena Eloranta; Hans Carlsten; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SLE; pDCs; NK cells; interferon; autoantibodies; immune complex; hydroxychloroquine; IRAK4 inhibition;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease, characterized by the presence of anti-nuclear antibodies and the formation of nucleic acid containing immune complexes (ICs), which can cause organ damage by deposition in tissues. ICs strongly trigger the plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) to produce interferon (IFN)-α, which potently activates the immune system. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of Type I Interferon Production in Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells : Effect of Genetic Factors and Interactions with NK Cells and B Cells

    Författare :Olof Berggren; Maija-Leena Eloranta; Niels Heegaard; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Systemic lupus erythemtosus; IFN-alpha; autoimmunity; immune complex; single nuclear polymorphisms; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : The type I interferon (IFN) system plays a central role in the etiopathogenesis of many autoimmune diseases, e.g. systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Activation of the type I IFN system in SLE is promoted by endogenous nucleic acid-containing immune complexes (ICs) which stimulate plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs). LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Role of Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells and Natural Killer Cells in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

    Författare :Niklas Hagberg; Lars Rönnblom; Maija-Leena Eloranta; George Tsokos; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Systemic lupus erythematosus; plasmacytoid dendritic cells; natural killer cells; type I interferon; immune complex; SLAM receptors; autoantibodies; CD94 NKG2A; CD94 NKG2C; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by autoantibody production, which can eventually lead to immune complex (IC)-mediated organ damage. Due to the stimulation of plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) by nucleic acid-containing ICs (DNA- or RNA-IC), patients with SLE have an ongoing interferon (IFN)-α production. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of B cell function by plasmacytoid dendritic cells

    Författare :Cornelia Gujer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Dendritic cell;

    Sammanfattning : Dendritic cells (DCs) are early sentinels of pathogen exposure and central in the initiation and orchestration of adaptive immune responses. Apart from the prominent role of DCs in the activation of T cells, DCs have been shown to influence humoral B cell mediated responses. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pregnancy and delivery-related complications in Rwanda : prevalence, associated risk factors, health economic impact, and maternal experiences

    Författare :Jean Paul Semasaka Sengoma; Ingrid Mogren; Gunilla Krantz; Cyprien Munyanshongore; Manasse Nzayirambaho; Jon Øyvind Odland; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pregnancy and delivery-related complications; cross-sectional study; qualitative method; costing study; health economics; epidemiology; self-rated health status; pregnancy; childbirth; postpartum; Rwanda; prevalence; experiences; Public health; folkhälsa;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Every year more than 1.5 million women suffer from pregnancy and delivery-related complications (PDCs) during pregnancy and childbirth worldwide, and these women are a vulnerable population for lifelong consequences, somatically, psychologically and financially.
