1. Functional characterization of the alternative reading frame protein p14ARF
Sammanfattning : A deeper understanding of the molecular events underlying tumor development is a prerequisite for the design of novel and efficient therapies. Inactivation of the p53 and retinoblastoma (Rb) tumor suppressor pathways appears as a common theme in most malignant human tumors. LÄS MER
2. p53 guardian of the genome and target for improved treatment of leukemia
Sammanfattning : P53 acts in several cellular processes as cell cycle checkpoints, DNA repair senescence and the surveillance of genomic integrity. Wt p53 inhibits cancer processes by causing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. P53 is strongly regulated by the HDM-2 protein, which builds a complex with p53 leading to proteosomal degradation of p53. 3. Germline CDKN2A/ARF alterations in human melanoma
Sammanfattning : Approximately 10% of cases of human cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) have been estimated to occur in individuals with a familial predisposition, frequently in association with dysplastic nevus syndrome (DNS). The genetics of familial melanoma is complex and heterogeneous. To date only two melanoma predisposing genes have been identified. LÄS MER
4. Identification of EBNA binding cellular proteins, using yeast two-hybrid system
Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a common herpesvirus that establishes life-long persistence in the human host through the elaborate regulation of different latency types. Latent EBV infection of resting B cells converts them into transformed cells that can develop into tumors in immune-compromised hosts. LÄS MER
5. Drug resistance in acute myeloid leukemia : clinical and experimental studies
Sammanfattning : The long-term result of chemotherapy in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is poor, even though a majority of AML patients initially respond to chemotherapy and achieve complete remission (CR). Initially resistant disease as well as relapse is a result of resistance to chemotherapy drug resistance. LÄS MER
