16. Influence of liquid diffusion on the performance of polymer materials in industrial applications
Sammanfattning : Diffusion of liquids into and through polymers is an important factor that negatively may influence the durability or lifetime of a polymer structure used in industrial applications. In this work two types of polymers, a liquid crystalline polymer (LCP, Vectra A950) and various thermoset resins as used in fibre reinforced plastics (FRP) process equipment were studied with regard to barrier properties, chemical resistance and long-term performance. 17. Modification of Oxide Surfaces with Functional Organic Molecules, Nanoparticles, and Hetero-Oxide Layers
Sammanfattning : The research work described in this thesis is concerned with the modification of oxide surfaces, as reflected by its title. The surfaces and their modification have been studied using a range of experimental surface characterization tools, in particular x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), fluorescence microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and scanning tunneling microscopy. 18. Wood-derived lignin-based fibers as supercapacitor electrodes
Sammanfattning : Today, in order to replace fossil energy sources with renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, reliable energy storage systems that can provide power regardless of the intermittent nature of the energy sources must be created. Especially with the future’s rising energy demands the development of such energy storage systems from green-collar materials with the least negative environmental impact is pressing. LÄS MER
19. Design and Fabrication of Ultra-Wideband Bandpass Filter Based on Liquid Crystal Polymer Substrates
Sammanfattning : For millimeter (mm)-wave systems’ applications, as frequency is moving towards higher and higher bands, materials and integration technologies are witnessing higher performance demands and consequently higher constraints. From a material’s point of view, the selection of substrate material has recently drawn considerable attention in the design of the whole mm-wave system. LÄS MER
20. Design, Fabrication and Characterization of Microwave Passive Devices on Liquid Crystal Polymer Substrates
Sammanfattning : For microwave/millimeter (mm)-wave systems’ applications, as frequency is moving towards higher and higher bands, materials and integration technologies are witnessing higher performance demands and constraints. The materials presently used as mm-wave substrates are either expensive or show unsatisfactory performance. LÄS MER
