  1. 1. Pulmonary Atelectasis in General Anaesthesia : Clinical Studies on the Counteracting Effects of Positive End-Expiratory Pressure

    Författare :Erland Östberg; Mats Enlund; Lennart Edmark; Sophie Lindgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; General anaesthesia; pulmonary atelectasis; positive end-expiratory pressure; oxygen; computed tomography; continuous positive airway pressure; mechanical ventilation; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care;

    Sammanfattning : Partial lung collapse, i.e., pulmonary atelectasis, is common during general anaesthesia. The main causal mechanism is reduced lung volume with airway closure and subsequent gas absorption from preoxygenated alveoli. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Free-Vehicle Benthic Lander Technology for the Study of Biogeochemical Processes in Marine Sediments

    Författare :Anders Tengberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; marine sediments; benthic fluxes; incubations; chambers; in-situ; benthic landers; autonomous vehicles; lander technology; hydrodynamics; calibration; experimental design; Partial Least Squares PLS ; sensors; fugacity; oxygen; carbon; nitrogen; phosphorus; silica; dissolved organic carbon DOC ; total carbonate; recycling; burial; lander technology;

    Sammanfattning : Various sediment sampling and incubation techniques were used to characterize benthic biogeochemical processes important for an improved understanding of the oceanic carbon cycle. Recent flux data from the Arctic Siberian shelf are revealing differences (often by a factor of ten) between areas affected by the big Russian river outlets (high fluxes) and areas with low influence from land (low fluxes). 3. 3. Capture of CO2 from solid fuels using Chemical-Looping Combustion and Chemical-Looping Oxygen Uncoupling

    Författare :Henrik Leion; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; chemical-looping with oxygen uncoupling; fluidized bed; gasification; CO2-capture; biofuels; oxygen carrier; chemical looping combustion; CLOU; petroleum coke; coal; CLC;

    Sammanfattning : In order to meet the global demand of CO2 neutral energy, chemical-looping combustion could play an important role. Oxygen can be transferred from the combustion air to the fuel by means of oxygen carrying metal oxide particles circulating between two reactors, an air- and a fuel reactor. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Partial methane oxidation from electronic structure calculations

    Författare :Adam Arvidsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ZSM-5 zeolite; density functional theory; microkinetic modelling; Mo6S8 cluster; partial methane oxidation;

    Sammanfattning : Investigating catalytic reactions with computational methods is a powerful approach to understand fundamental aspects of catalytic reactions and find ways to guide catalytic design. Partial methane oxidation is one example of a reaction with intriguing challenges, where a detailed atomistic approach may help to unravel the bottlenecks of this, as of yet, inefficient reaction. 5. 5. Sulfur Capture and Oxidation of Calcium Sulfide in PFBC

    Författare :Kuanrong Qiu; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oxidation; model; pressure; sulfur; PFBC; CaS; limestone; CaSO4; PTGA; regeneration;

    Sammanfattning : Sorbents such as limestone are successfully used for removal of SO2 during pressurized fluidized bed combustion (PFBC) processes. However, there still remains a strong incentive to reduce the consumption of such sorbents. LÄS MER
