1. Zirconia cell measurements of fluctuations between oxidizing and reducing conditions in a circulating fluidized bed boiler
Sammanfattning : .... LÄS MER
2. Measurement and control of oxygen fugacity by means of gaseous oxygen buffers
Sammanfattning : Fundamental and practical aspects of oxygen buffering are reviewed, with particular reference to the gaseous oxygen buffer as a tool in elevated temperature oxide chemistry. An oxygen buffer capacity concept and a classification scheme for oxygen buffers are proposed; their application is demonstrated. LÄS MER
3. The significance of mitochondrial respiratory function in regulating oxygen uptake and performance in humans
Sammanfattning : The mitochondrion is one of the most fascinating organelles of our cells which has kept and keeps researchers busy in studying its origin, the complex morphology, the numerous functions, the rapid adaptations to a variety of stimuli and its role in health and disease. Exercise challenges cellular homeostasis and skeletal muscle mitochondria greatly adapt to repeated bouts of exercise by increasing mitochondrial respiratory function and content to match energy requirements and to better sustain future perturbations induced by muscle contractions. 4. New perspectives in mesospheric wave dynamics and oxygen photochemistry
Sammanfattning : The mesosphere is the region of the atmosphere between 50km to 100km, where both dynamical and photochemical aspects play important roles for the thermal balance. This thesis focuses on the following three areas for mesospheric studies: wave dynamics, oxygen photochemistry and retrieval using the optimal estimation method. LÄS MER
5. The RDGT - Integration of Micromechanics and Electronics by Plasma Assisted Wafer Bonding
Sammanfattning : A high-resolution capacitive sensing technique is presented in this thesis: the Resonant Double Gate Transistor (RDGT). The major advantage of the RDGT compared to "pure" capacitive sensing techniques is its low output impedance because of the direct capacitance to current conversion of the transistor. LÄS MER
