21. Deciphering the Mechanistic Diversity of Proton-Coupled Electron Transfer Reactions
Sammanfattning : Proton coupled electron transfer is ubiquitous in biological and artificial reaction systems. Much has been done in order to describe the occurrence of such reactions. However, PCET reactivity is often very complex. For instance, there are multiple (stepwise and concerted) mechanistic pathways through which PCET may occur. LÄS MER
22. Regulation of human thioredoxin and glutaredoxin systems by oxidation and S-nitrosylation
Sammanfattning : The homeostasis of intracellular redox status has a crucial role in the cell survival and different processes such as DNA synthesis, gene expression, enzymatic activity, etc. This homeostasis is achieved via an intense balance between pro-oxidants and anti-oxidants. LÄS MER
23. Organocatalytic Transformations with N-Heterocyclic Carbenes - An Investigation of Ionic Liquids as NHC Precatalysts and Aerobic Oxidative Esterifications
Sammanfattning : The call for more sustainable processes in the chemical society has led to the development of the field of green chemistry. The Twelve Principles of Green Chemistry serve as guidelines for the design of processes. LÄS MER
24. Development of Biomimetic Catalytic Systems for Selective Oxidations with H2O2 and O2
Sammanfattning : Four different catalytic systems were studied for biomimetic coupled oxidations using H2O2 or O2. In the first example, osmium tetroxide works as a substrate-selective catalyst for dihydroxylation of olefins. Electron transfer to H2O2 is facilitated by electron transfer mediators (ETMs). LÄS MER
25. Redox Chemistry in Radiation Induced Dissolution of Spent Nuclear Fuel : from Elementary Reactions to Predictive Modeling
Sammanfattning : The focus of this doctoral thesis is the redox chemistry involved in radiation induced oxidative dissolution of spent nuclear fuel and UO2 (as a model substance for spent nuclear fuel). It is shown that two electron oxidants are more efficient than one electron oxidants in oxidative dissolution of UO2 at low oxidant concentrations. LÄS MER
