1. Synthesis of biologically active oligosaccharides of the Lewis b family and investigations towards the synthesis of glycoclusters
Sammanfattning : The gastric pathogen Helicobacter pylori is a Gram negative bacterium which may cause diseases such as peptic ulceration and gastric adenocarcinoma. It colonises a host by attaching to the gastric epithelial cells, an attachment mediated by outer membrane proteins on the bacterial surface, e.g, the blood group antigen binding adhesin, BabA. 2. Dynamic Systems : Enzymatic Synthesis, Exchange Reactions and Applications in Materials Science
Sammanfattning : This thesis is divided into three parts, revolving around the developments of dynamic systems utilized in dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) and constitutional dynamic chemistry (CDC).The first section gives an introduction to constitutional dynamics, the core concept of this thesis. 3. Synthesis of Bacterial Oligosaccharides from N. meningitidis and Mechanistic Details of Stereoselective Glycosylations Using a Novel Bicyclic Donor
Sammanfattning : This thesis includes two parts. The first part, comprising Chapters 3, 4 and 5, describes the synthesis of bacterial oligosaccharides. In Chapters 3 and 4, the synthesis of branched and phosphorylated oligosaccharide structures corresponding to inner core epitopes of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of the Gram-negative bacteria N. 4. Development of Asymmetric Iridium Catalysed Hydrogenation Reactions
Sammanfattning : The focus of the work presented in this thesis is the development of iridium-catalysed asymmetric hydrogenation reactions. The first part of this thesis covers the development of dynamic kinetic resolution in asymmetric hydrogenation of chiral, racemic secondary allylic alcohols, which are converted to chiral saturated alcohols with high dr and ee. 5. Design and stereoselective syntheses of Phe-Phe dipeptidomimetics
Sammanfattning : Several stereochemically well characterized Phe-Phe dipeptidomimetics have been designed and synthesized. The Phe-Phe vinyl isostere was used as a key intermediate. The synthesized series of mimetics includes two isomeric epoxides, four 1,2-dihydroxyethylene isomers, two isomeric allylic alcohols and two isomeric allylic fluorides. LÄS MER
