  1. 11. Regulation of human macrophage gene expression by oxidized low density lipoprotein. Studies on tumor necrosis factor-a and global gene expression profiles

    Författare :Mikael C. O. Englund; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :atherosclerosis; macrophage; gene expression; TNF-a; oxidized LDL; oxysterol; transcription factor; microarray;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis is a multifactorial and progressive disease that is characterized by a focal thickening of the arteries caused by accumulation of lipoproteins, extracellular matrix, and the migration and proliferation of various cell types. Among the cells found in atherosclerotic lesions are macrophages, which accumulate lipids and are transformed into foam cells. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Studies on scavenger receptor class B type I and genes implicated in foam cell formation

    Författare :Per-Arne Svensson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; scavenger receptor class B type I; high-density lipoprotein; oxidized low-density lipoprotein; macrophages; expression profiling;

    Sammanfattning : The risk of atherosclerosis correlates with plasma levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and is inversely correlated to plasma levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Accumulation of oxidized LDL (oxLDL) by arterial macrophages is a key event in the development of atherosclerosis. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Mechanisms and treatment options of chronic graft dysfunction : Experimental and clinical studies

    Författare :Lilija Zezina; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; chronic graft dysfunction; kidney transplantation; aorta transplantation; lipid oxidation; LDL; TGF-beta; Smad2; angiotensin II receptor; treatment; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic graft dysfunction (CGD) is an important post-transplant complication. CGD can be considered as an impaired repair process, which ultimately leads to the loss of graft function.To study non-immunological factors contributing to the development of CGD in kidney grafts we used in vitro and in vivo models, and clinical studies. 4. 14. Lipids and autoimmunity in atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases

    Författare :Xiang Hua; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease. The rupture of athrerosclerotic plaques is the major cause of severe cardiovascular disease (CVD), such as myocardial infarction (MI) and stroke. The stability of the plaque depends on its cellular and extracellular contents. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Low-Density Lipoprotein Oxidation and Renal Dysfunction : New Markers of Poor Prognosis in Patients with Unstable Coronary Artery Disease

    Författare :Nina Johnston; Lars Wallentin; Tomas Jernberg; Agneta Siegbahn; Lena Jonasson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; myocardial infarction; unstable angina; oxidized low-density lipoprotein; renal function; prognosis; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : In patients with unstable coronary artery disease (CAD) biochemical markers are emerging as useful tools in clinical management. In this thesis we studied the use of markers of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxidation and renal function. LÄS MER
