1. Mechanistic Studies on Ruthenium-Catalyzed Hydrogen Transfer Reactions
Sammanfattning : Mechanistic studies on three different ruthenium-based catalysts have been performed. The catalysts have in common that they have been employed in hydrogen transfer reactions involving alcohols and ketones, amines and imines or both. LÄS MER
2. Solubility and Surface Complexation Studies of Apatites
Sammanfattning : Apatites are a diverse class of phosphate minerals that are important in a great variety of natural and industrial processes. They are, for example, used as raw material in fertiliser production and in the remediation of metal-contaminated soils. LÄS MER
3. Coordination Chemistry of Monocarboxylate and Aminocarboxylate Complexes at the Water/Goethite Interface
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a summary of five papers with focus on adsorption processes of various monocarboxylates and aminocarboxylates at the water/goethite interface. Interaction of organic acids at the water/mineral interfaces are of importance in biogeochemical processes, since such processes have potential to alter mobility and bioavailability of the acids and metal ions. 4. Selective transfer hydrogenations : Catalyst development and mechanistic investigations
Sammanfattning : By generating a library of amino acid-based ligands, pseudo-dipeptides, and combining them with transition metals, we have created selective and efficient ruthenium and rhodium catalysts for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of ketones. The ruthenium-catalyzed reaction was studied in detail, and we found that alkali metals play a crucial role for the reactivity and selectivity of the reaction. LÄS MER
5. Spectroscopic studies of solvation and adsorption properties of PVP
Sammanfattning : The adsorption mechanism of 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone (VP), poly(1-vinyl-2- pyrrolidone) (PVP) and azelaic acid on synthetic gamma-aluminium oxide surfaces was investigated using FT-IR, FT-Raman, UV, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. (Liquid-solid state) As a first step the solvation of VP and PVP in solvents of varying polarity, specifically water, ethylene glycol (EG), chloroform and carbon tetrachloride, was studied. LÄS MER
