21. Investigation of hafnium for biomedical applications : corrosion and tribocorrosion in simulated body fluids
Sammanfattning : Metals have excellent properties, such as high strength, ductility and toughness, which make them the material of choice for many biomedical applications. However, the main drawback of metals is their general tendency to corrode, which is an important factor when they are used as biomaterials due to the corrosive nature of the human body. LÄS MER
22. Impact of epidemiologically identified mixtures of endocrine disrupting chemicals on metabolic programming
Sammanfattning : We are ubiquitously exposed to a plethora of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), i.e. substances that alter the function(s) of the endocrine system. While ample evidence show individual EDC's influence on developmental processes resulting in adverse health outcomes, less is known about the effects of human-relevant EDC mixtures exposure. LÄS MER
23. Survival of onlay bone grafts. A study in the adult rat
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study onlay bone grafting in the adult rat to improve graft incorporation and perservation of graft size. In 167 adult isogeneic lewis rats, the size maintenance and bone formation at the graft-host interface of uni- and bicortical onlays positioned in various environments and treatments were investigated. 24. The effect of tobacco exposure on bone healing and the osseointegrationof dental implants
Sammanfattning : Background: The mechanisms behind the impact of smoking on osseointegration are not fully understood. Aim: To correlate the clinical and molecular aspects of osseointegration in smokers compared with non-smokers. LÄS MER
25. Primary osteoarthrosis in guinea pigs
Sammanfattning : The course of primary osteoarthrosis (OA) in Hartley guinea pigs, which spontaneously develop OA in their knee joints, was studied by stereology (quantitative morphology). Between 6 and 12 months of age, structural changes similar to those of human OA developed, predominantly in the central (non-meniscus-covered) medial condyle, while the lateral condyle remained unaffected.
