    Sammanfattning : The design of an uncemented hip arthroplasty implant affects its long-term survival. Characteristics such as the form and the finish of the implant are crucial in order to achieve the best possible conditions for long-term implant survival. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Aspects on treatment of femoral neck fractures : studies on treatment methods, surgical approach and external validity

    Författare :Sebastian Mukka; Arkan Sayed-Noor; Olof Sköldenberg; Lasse Lapidus; Umeå universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Femoral neck fracture (FNF) is a great challenge for today´s health care and is associated with high mortality and morbidity in the elderly.  In the short term several studies in the literature have demonstrated improved hip function, quality of life and fewer re-operations in elderly patients treated with total hip arthroplasty (THA) instead of internal fixation (IF). 4. 9. On the Role of Osteoprotegerin/RANK/RANKL System in the Interaction between Prostate Cancer and Bone

    Författare :Hendrik Penno; Östen Ljunggren; Olof Nilsson; Andreas Kindmark; Pernilla Lundberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; metastases; bone; prostate cancer; osteoprotegerin; RANKL; osteoporosis; genetics; polymorphisms; Orthopaedics; Ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : Metastases to bone are observed in around 80% of prostate cancer patients and represent the most critical complication of advanced prostate cancer. Unlike other solid tumors that are associated with osteolytic bone metastases, prostate cancer bone metastases stimulate osteoblastic activity with sclerosis in the bone lesions as a consequence. 5. 10. Axis Fractures in Elderly : Epidemiology and Treatment related outcome

    Författare :Anna-Lena Robinson; Claes Olerud; Yohan Robinson; Bengt Lind; Uppsala universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Background: Axis fractures are a common injury in the elderly population. Treatment is often complicated due to osteoporosis and patient comorbidity. Knowledge of the incidence of these fractures, as well as their treatment, outcome and mortality rate, will improve knowledge and decision-making processes for this fragile group of patients. LÄS MER
