    Sammanfattning : Although indispensable in today's medicine, orthopaedic implants may also cause adverse reactions. A foreign body increases the local susceptibility to colonisation by microorganisms, and hence the risk of infections. These infections are rare, but many result in prolonged or permanent impairment.
