Sammanfattning : When Does Regression Discontinuity Design Work? Evidence from Random Election OutcomesWe use elections data in which a large number of ties in vote counts between candidates are resolved via a lottery to study the personal incumbency advantage. We benchmark non-experimental regression discontinuity design (RDD) estimates against the estimate produced by this experiment that suggests that there is no personal incumbency advantage. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to study Swedish intra-party nomination processes for political appointments at the municipal, regional and national levels. This was accomplished by studying whether, and if so how, nomination processes are affected by identification and the existence of personal contacts and networks, based in part on homosociality and network capital. Sammanfattning : The dissertation compares the Swedish parliamentary parties' images of the economic crises which have played a significant political role in Swedish politics since the early seventies. Special attention is paid to comparing the explanations of the crises' origins which the parties hold and to the imperatives that arise and tend to dominate the agenda, motivating and legitimising the policies that have been followed.
