1. Maxillofacial cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) : aspetcs on optimisation
2. Parallel computing in model-based process engineering
Sammanfattning : Chemical processes are usually expensive to run. To optimise a process, we need to know how the process behaves, and this is usually accomplished by studying the process experimentally. However, experiments are very expensive, particularly if an existing plant has to shut down normal operation to conduct an experiment. LÄS MER
3. Techno-Economic Perspectives on Biofuel Futures – Modelling Transport Sector Strategies in an Energy System Context
Sammanfattning : The high oil dependence and the continuous growth of energy use in the transport sector have in recent years triggered interest in transport biofuels as a measure to mitigate climate change andimprove energy security. This work aims to examine techno-economic interactions linked totransport biofuel strategies in national and regional energy systems and their implications for thecost-effective realisation of energy policy objectives. 4. Radioluminescence : A simple model for fluorescent layers
Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to present a simple model for the radiation to light conversion processes in fluorescent layers as an aid in future developments and applications. Optimisation between sensitivity and spatial resolution for fluorescent layers in digital radiology is a delicate task where the extrinsic efficiency for various phosphors needs to be established for varying parameters. 5. Optimisation of Railway Switches and Crossings
Sammanfattning : Methods for simulation-based optimisation of the design of railway turnouts (switches & crossings, S&C) are developed and demonstrated. Building on knowledge of dynamic wheel–rail interaction in turnouts, it is investigated how rail profile degradation can be reduced by the optimisation of geometry and component stiffness of the track superstructure.
