21. Hydrogen Storage Materials : Design, Catalysis, Thermodynamics, Structure and Optics
Sammanfattning : Hydrogen is abundant, uniformly distributed throughout the Earth's surface and its oxidation product (water) is environmentally benign. Owing to these features, it is considered as an ideal synthetic fuel for a new world energetic matrix (renewable, secure and environmentally friendly) that could allow a sustainable future development. 22. Studies in Physiological Optics and Microwave Hyperthermia
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the optics of the eye, the sky and microwave induced hyperthermia treatment of cancer. Light scattering in normal eyes is reviewed and its influence on vision is discussed in some detail. LÄS MER
23. Quantum Optics with Propagating Microwaves in Superconducting Circuits
Sammanfattning : We address recent advances in quantum optics with propagating microwavesin superconducting circuits. This research field exploits on the fact that the coupling between a superconducting artificial atom and propagating microwave photons in a one-dimensional (1D) open transmission line can be made strong enough to observe quantum effects, without using any cavity to confine the microwave photons. 24. Optics Corrections and Stabilization Methods for Particle Accelerators
Sammanfattning : The discovery of a Higgs-like particle is the result of excellent performance ofboth the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) and its detectors. A significant partof the success can be attributed to the excellent control of the optics in theaccelerator. In this thesis the methods used to correct the optics functions arepresented. LÄS MER
25. Compact Soft X-Ray Microscopy : Sources, Optics and Instrumentation
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the development of a sub-60-nm full-period resolution compact soft x-ray microscope operating in the water-window region (2.3-4.4 nm). Soft x-ray water-window microscopy is a powerful technique for high-resolution imaging of organic materials exploiting the natural contrast mechanism between carbon and oxygen, cf. LÄS MER
