1. Optically detected magnetic resonance studies of intrinsic defects in dilute nitrides and SiC
Sammanfattning : Self-interstitials, vacancies and antisites belong to an important class of defects -intrinsic defects - in compound semiconductors. They have been found to be common occurring defects in semiconductor crystals grown under non-optimized or non-equilibrium conditions or subject to high-energy particle bombardment. LÄS MER
2. Magneto-optical studies of dilute nitrides and II-VI diluted magnetic semiconductor quantum structures
Sammanfattning : This thesis work aims at a better understanding of magneto-optical properties of dilute nitrides and II-VI diluted magnetic semiconductor quantum structures. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part gives an introduction of the research fields, together with a brief summary of the scientific results included in the thesis. LÄS MER
3. Zeeman Interaction in Low-Dimensional III-V Semiconductor Structures
Sammanfattning : The Zeeman interaction in low-dimensional III-V semiconductor nanostructures is studied. The effective g-value of bulk InGaAs is measured by two different spin resonance techniques. Experimental conditions were found to control the Overhauser effect, thus enabling a highly accurate determination of the g-value, g* = -4.070 ± 0. LÄS MER
4. Quantum electronic transport in low-dimensional semiconductors
Sammanfattning : Electronic transport is studied at low temperatures in two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) and in mesoscopic semiconductor microstructures. The method of microwave-detection of the Shubnikov-de Haas effect for the contact-free characterisation of transport properties of 2DEGs is explored using both magnetic-field modulation and light-induced carrier modulation. 5. The silicon vacancy in SiC
Sammanfattning : SiC has for decades been considered to be a very promising semiconductor, but several problems related to the material quality, did earlier prevent an exploitation of the supreme electrical characteristics of the material. Now most of these problems have been overcome, high quality material can be grown and research around this material is going through an intense phase of development. LÄS MER
