  1. 6. Optical Monitoring of Cerebral Microcirculation

    Författare :Peter Rejmstad; Karin Wårdell; Göran Salerud; Neda Haj-Hosseini; Kerstin Ramser; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optical monitoring; cerebral microcirculation; diffuse reflectance spectroswcopy DRS ; laser Doppler flowmetry LDF ;

    Sammanfattning : The cerebral microcirculation consists of a complex network of small blood vessels that support nerve cells with oxygen and nutrition. The blood flow and oxygen delivery in the microcirculatory blood vessels are regulated through mechanisms which may be influenced or impaired by disease or brain damage resulting from conditions such as brain tumors, traumatic brain injury or subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). 2. 7. Experimental Study on Truck Related Power Losses: The Churning Losses in a Transmission Model and Active Flow Control at an A-pillar of Generic Truck Cabin Model

    Författare :Erwin Adi Hartono; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hot wire anemometry; Machine learning; Computational Fluid Dynamics; A-Pillar; Transmission; Flow separation; Churning losses; CFD; Gearbox; Torque measurement; Particle Image Velocimetry; Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics.; Active Flow Control; SPH; Curve fit; Synthetic Jets; Load independent power losses; Aeration; Flow visu- alization;

    Sammanfattning : The fight with global warming constantly forces vehicle manufacturers to innovate, in order to be able to reduce the CO2 emissions of their product. This means that marginal efficiency gains in every component are considered beneficial for total reduction of CO2 emissions. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Towards quantitative single cell analysis using optical tweezers and microfluidics

    Författare :Emma Eriksson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optical tweezers; holographic optical tweezers; microfluidics; lab-on-a-chip; fluorescence microscopy; spatial light modulator; single cell analysis; quantitative systems biology; GFP; Saccharomyces cerevisiae;

    Sammanfattning : Experiments on single cells have the potential to uncover information that would not be possible to obtain with traditional biological techniques, which only reflect the average behavior of a population of cells. In the averaging process, information regarding heterogeneity and cellular dynamics, that may give rise to a nondeterministic behavior at the population level, is lost. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Optical spectroscopy of InGaAs quantum dots

    Författare :Arvid Larsson; Per Olof Holtz; Artur Zrenner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum dot; semiconductor; optical properties; spin; transport; wetting layer; polarization; kvantprick; halvledare; optiska egenskaper; spin; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Condensed matter physics; Kondenserade materiens fysik; Semiconductor physics; Halvledarfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis deals with optical studies of semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) in the InGaAs material system. It is shown that for self-assembled InAs QDs, the interaction with the surrounding GaAs barrier and the InAs wetting layer (WL) in particular, has a very large impact on their optical properties. 5. 10. Coherent Optical Transmission Systems : Performance and Coding Aspects

    Författare :Miu Yoong Leong; Sergei Popov; Gunnar Jacobsen; Enrico Forestieri; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Since the invention of fiber-optic systems in the 1970s, user demand has driven innovation forward, and each new generation of products has achieved higher data rates than its predecessor. Today, the most promising approach for further increasing data rates is coherent transmission with multi-level modulation and digital signal processing (DSP). LÄS MER
