  1. 16. Colloidal synthesis of metal nanoparticles

    Författare :Anna Pekkari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; inline quality control; palladium; gold; stabilizers; NO2 reduction; core-shell; colloidal synthesis; copper; reduction kinetics; platinum; nanoparticles; segmented flow; nanocube; flow chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Metal nanoparticles (NPs) are central in a wide range of industrial areas including catalytic and biomedical applications. Due to their interesting physical properties, the demand of these precious materials is steadily increasing, which has created a need for the development of effective and high-performing NPs. 2. 17. Measuring with pressure sensitive paint in time-varying flows

    Författare :Markus Pastuhoff; Henrik Henrk Alfredsson; Ulrich Henne; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pressure sensitive paint; fluid mechanics; internal flow; pulsating flow;

    Sammanfattning : Increasingly tougher legislation on internal combustion engine emissions drives the development towards smaller engines with higher efficiency where an important component is the gas-exchange system and especially the turbocharger. The flow in the gas-exchange system is inherently pulsating and unsteady and the present thesis aims at investigating if and how pressure sensitive paint (PSP) can be used for internal unsteady flows of relevance for engine applications. 3. 18. Drop Break-up in High-Pressure Homogenisers

    Författare :Fredrik Innings; Livsmedelsteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Food and drink technology; Livsmedelsteknik; plasma; fluiddynamik; Gaser; plasmas; fluid dynamics; POD; Gases; PIV; Eddy; Flow; Jet; Milk; Break-up; Emulsion; Drop; Homogeniser;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this project was to investigate the drop break-up process in milk homogenisers. This was done by measurements and calculations of the flow fields in the gap region and by visualisation of drops being broken up. To make visualisation and measurements possible, two scale models of a homogeniser gap were developed. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Towards Intelligent Deformable Models for Medical Image Analysis

    Författare :Ghassan Hamarneh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; shape modeling; deformable models; principal component analysis; echocardiography; snakes; active shape models; deformable spatio-temporal shape models; medial-based shape profiles; statistical shape variation; spatio-temporal shape analysis; magnetic resonance imaging; hierarchical regional principal component analysis; oral lesions; dynamic programming; segmentation; spring-mass model; shape deformation; optical flow; medical image analysis; artificial life; physics-based modeling; deformable organisms; digital color images; medial axis; active contour models;

    Sammanfattning : Medical imaging continues to permeate the practice of medicine, but automated yet accurate segmentation and labeling of anatomical structures continues to be a major obstacle to computerized medical image analysis (MIA). Deformable models, with its profound roots in estimation theory, optimization, and physics-based dynamical systems, represent a powerful approach to the general problem of medical image segmentation. 5. 20. Optical Diagnostics of Non-thermal Plasmas and Plasma-assisted Combustion

    Författare :Jiajian Zhu; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-speed photography; Laser diagnostics; Planar laser-induced fluorescence; Plasma-assisted combustion; Non-thermal plasmas; Gliding arc discharge; Optical diagnostics; Particle tracking velocimetry; Fysicumarkivet A:2015:Zhu;

    Sammanfattning : Non-thermal plasma is regarded as a collection of free electrons, ions and neutral particles that are not at local thermodynamic equilibrium. The high-energetic electrons formed in non-thermal plasmas are capable of generating chemically active species and modifying chemical kinetics in practical applications. LÄS MER
