  1. 1. Combining Electrochemistry and Photoelectron Spectroscopy for the Study of Li-ion Batteries

    Författare :Ida Källquist; Maria Hahlin; Håkan Rensmo; Laurent Duda; Kristina Edström; Hendrik Bluhm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Li-ion battery; battery interfaces; electrochemistry; electrochemical potential; photoelectron spectroscopy; operando; ambient pressure photoelectron spectroscopy;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) is combined with electrochemistry to investigate the electrochemical processes that occur at the electrode/electrolyte interfaces in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). LIB systems are studied by the use of both ex situ PES, where electrodes are electrochemically pre-cycled and subsequently measured by PES, and operando PES, where electrodes are cycled during PES measurements. 2. 2. Operando X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy Studies of Methane Oxidation Catalysts

    Författare :Johan Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; operando spectroscopy; XAS; palladium; heterogeneous catalysis; methane oxidation; XAFS;

    Sammanfattning : Operando spectroscopy is an experimental method in catalysis that combines measurements of catalytic activity and selectivity with simultaneous in situ spectroscopic characterization of the catalyst. Since the structure and composition of the catalyst are probed under reaction conditions, the method can provide valuable information to elucidate the mechanism of the studied reaction. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The life and death of perovskites : Interfacial function and degradation of lead halide perovskites studied by photoelectron spectroscopy

    Författare :Sebastian Svanström; Ute B Cappel; Håkan Rensmo; Erik Johansson; Selina Olthof; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lead halide perovskite solar cells; interfacial degradation; heterojunction interfaces; photoelectron spectroscopy; operando; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Lead halide perovskite solar cells are a promising new technology which could soon see widespread commercial application but is partly held back by poor long-term stability. In this thesis, photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) is used to study the dynamical processes at the surface or interfaces of lead halide perovskite materials. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Operando Characterisation of Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

    Författare :Yu-Chuan Chien; Daniel Brandell; Matthew Lacey; Paul Shearing; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lithium–sulfur batteries; operando characterisation; intermittent current interruption; X-ray diffraction; small-angle scattering; electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries have been under the spotlight of research on electrochemical energy storage systems, primarily owing to their high theoretical specific energy (2552 Wh kg-1). So far, Li–S cells on the market have presented a specific energy of 400 Wh kg-1, which is superior to many commercial alternatives, but far below the theoretical value. LÄS MER

  5. 5. CO, CO2 and N2 hydrogenation reactions probed by operando x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

    Författare :David Degerman; Anders Nilsson; Miquel Salmeron; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Operando Catalysis; Hydrogenation reactions; High-Pressure X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy; Syngas; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Sammanfattning : Catalytic reactions are essential for generating the chemical products required by the modern society. In particular, reactions related to clean energy storage and generation as well as fertilizer production are facilitated by catalysts. However, the processes are often insufficiently understood at a mechanistic level. LÄS MER
