1. Atrial fibrillation in cardiac surgery
Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia seen in clinical practice. In cardiac surgery, one-third of the patients experience episodes of AF during the first postoperative days (postoperative AF), and patients with preoperative AF (concomitant AF) can be offered ablation procedures in conjunction with surgery, in order to restore ordinary sinus rhythm (SR). 2. Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair : Clinical and morphological outcomes
Sammanfattning : In the years following its introduction in the late 1980’s, thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) rose as a minimally invasive alternative to open surgical repair of thoracic aortic disease. As a result, an expanding group of patients are receiving invasive treatment, even though evidence in the area is still scarce. LÄS MER
3. Treatment of abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms : Aspects on epidemiology and surgical outcome
Sammanfattning : Aortic Aneurysm (AA) is a life-threatening condition when ruptured (RAA), requiring immediate repair for survival. Since the 50´s, open repair, replacing the diseased vessel with a prosthetic (synthetic) graft, has been the gold standard. LÄS MER
4. Energy-Related Metabolites during and after Induced Myocardial Ischemia and Retroperfusion of the Coronary Sinus : An Experimental Study in the Pig with the Microdialysis Technique and Extracorporeal Circulation
Sammanfattning : In the clinical setting great efforts have been made with contradictory results to operate upon acutely myocardial ischemic patients. The reasons for the absence of unambiguous results are not well understood nor are they scientifically explored. LÄS MER
5. Perforations of the Upper Gastro-Intestinal Tract
Sammanfattning : Material and methods: In all, 237 consecutive patients with a perforated peptic ulcer admitted from 1974-1992 and 125 consecutive patients with an oesophageal perforation admitted from 1970-2006 to Lund University hospital were studied retrospectively. Prognostic factors were evaluated using the Cox proportional hazards model. LÄS MER
