  1. 1. Mineral Reactions and Slag Formation During Reduction of Olivine Blast Furnace Pellets

    Författare :Elin Ryösä; Hans Annersten; Kyösti Heinänen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; olivine; iron ore pellets; blast furnace; reduction; alkali; coating; slag formation; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The present work focuses on mineral reactions and slag formation of LKAB olivine iron ore pellets (MPBO) subjected to reducing conditions in the LKAB experimental blast furnace (EBF). The emphasis is on olivine reactions with surrounding iron oxides. Many factors influence the olivine behaviour. LÄS MER

    Författare :Benyam Estifanos; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fe-Ti oxide; hercynite; siderite; stilpnomelane; olivine corona; Swedish Caledonides; hysteresis; PIXE; synchrotron XRD; Rietveld; microprobe; red corundum; palaeomagnetism; eclogite; plagioclase clouding; dolerite; pyroxene gneiss; Geology; physical geography; Geologi; fysisk geografi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of four subprojects: (A) ‘Clouding of plagioclase by Fe-Ti oxides’, (B) ‘Fe-Ti oxides during high-pressure metamorphism of mafic rocks’, (C) ‘Magnetic study of Fe-Ti oxides in mafic rocks and metabasites’, and (D) ‘Topotactic phase transitions in oxide minerals’. A) In southern Sweden dolerite dikes and gabbros with clouded plagioclase are common. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Interactions between iron oxides and the additives olivine, quartzite and calcite in magnetite pellets

    Författare :Pär Semberg; Abdel-Hady Abdel-Hady El-Geassy; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process Metallurgy; Processmetallurgi;

    Sammanfattning : In the present study, magnetite pellets with the additives olivine, calcite and quartzite were isothermally reduced in a tubular furnace to study the interaction between iron oxides and the additives. Exaggerated amounts of additives were used in order to enable analyses of phases that do not otherwise occur in sufficient amounts for X-ray diffraction and EDS-analyses. LÄS MER
