  1. 1. Roller skis' rolling resistance and grip characteristics : influences on physiological and performance measures in cross-country skiers

    Författare :Mats Ainegren; Peter Carlsson; Marko Laaksonen; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Adjustable grip; blood lactate; centre of pressure; cycle length; cycle rate; economy; efficiency; friction coefficient; heart rate; normal force; OBLA; oxygen uptake; power; ratcheted wheel; ratings of perceived exertion; roller skis; rolling resistance; tangential force; time to exhaustion;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to investigate roller ski characteristics; classical and freestyle roller skis’ rolling resistance coefficients (μR) and classical style roller skis’ static friction coefficients (μS), and to study the influence of different μR and μS on cross-country skiers’ performance and both physiological and biomechanical indices. The aim was also to study differences in skiing economy and efficiency between recreational skiers, female and male junior and senior elite cross-country skiers. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Climate change adaptation processes : Regional and sectoral stakeholder perspectives

    Författare :Karin André; Björn-Ola Linnér; Louise Simonsson; Anna Jonsson; Kate Lonsdale; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Adaptation processes; adaptive capacity; climate change; forestry; participatory methods; perceptions; private and public organizations; risks; roles; stakeholder dialogues; stakeholders; Sweden; transdisciplinarity; urban regions; Anpassningskapacitet; anpassningsprocesser; deltagandemetoder; intressenter; intressentdialoger; klimatförändringar; privata och offentliga organisationer; risker; roller; skogsbruk; Sverige; transdisciplinaritet; uppfattningar; urbana regioner;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis analyses how societal adaptation processes in public and private sectors at the regional to local level in Sweden are enacted. The thesis pays particular attention to critical factors that constrain or enable adaptation by focussing on: who are the stakeholders, how do different stakeholders perceive their capacity to adapt, and the role of stakeholder interaction in facilitating adaptation processes A combination of two analytical perspectives is used where one is based on key concepts within adaptation literature, and the other draws on boundary crossing and transdisciplinary knowledge production (stakeholders, adaptive capacity, and science-based stakeholder dialogues). 3. 3. The roles of Lhcb1 och Lhcb2 in regulation of photosynthetic light harvesting

    Författare :Malgorzata Pietrzykowska; Stefan Jansson; Jean-David Rochaix; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arabidopsis; Lhcb1; Lhcb2; LHCII; state transitions; phosphorylation; biology; biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Photosynthesis in higher plants relies upon collection of light by chlorophyll molecules associated with light harvesting chlorophyll a/b-binding (LHC) proteins. The two most abundant of these are Lhcb1 and Lhcb2, which make up light harvesting complex (LHC) II trimers. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Exploring the Role of Visualization in Climate Change Communication – an Audience Perspective

    Författare :Anne Gammelgaard Ballantyne; Victoria Wibeck; Tina-Simone Schmid Neset; Björn-Ola Linnér; Irene Lorenzoni; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Climate visualization; Climate change communication; Meaning; Lay audiences; Focus group interviews; Social semiotics; Klimatvisualisering; Klimatkommunikation; Meningsskapande; Allmänheten; Fokusgruppsstudier;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change communication is a topical and relevant issue, and it is widely acknowledged that public communication about causes, impacts and action alternatives is integral to addressing the challenges of the changing climate. Climate visualization concerns the communication of climate information and data through the use of different information technologies and different modes of visual representation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Family theme parks, happiness and children’s consumption : From roller-coasters to Pippi Longstocking

    Författare :David Cardell; Anna Sparrman; Tom O’Dell; Cook Daniel Thomas; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Happy; emotions; childhood; time; money; value; amusement park; leisure; tourism; mesh; ethnography; Nöjespark; temapark; glädje; nöje; känslor; etnografi; fritid; turism; värde; konsumtion; barn; barndom; familj;

    Sammanfattning : This book provides an ethnographic contribution to research on children’s consumption, family life and happiness. Various and shifting notions of happiness are explored, as well as conditions for and challenges to happiness, through an analysis of video-recorded interviews and mobile ethnography conducted in two of the most popular theme parks in Sweden.
