  1. 6. Health and Office Architecture

    Författare :Melina Forooraghi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Nordic; Salutogenic; Office design; Workplace; Sense of coherence; Design approach; Employee; Case study; Well-being; Qualitative study; Productivity; Physical office environment; Health; Architecture;

    Sammanfattning : The office, where many people spend most of their day, influences the health of employees, their families, communities, and society. While the body of research that relates office environment to health is growing, a question of interest for practitioners arises: how buildings should be designed and managed in order to support and promote health. 2. 7. Office work and physical factors : health aspects of electromagnetic fields and light

    Författare :Monica Sandström; Kjell Hansson Mild; Gunnar Nordberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Facial skin symptoms; office illness; electrical hypersensitivity; physical environment; flicker; jitter; neurophysiological effects;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis is to increase our knowledge of the physical environment of office workers with special focus on electromagnetic fields and to address the question of whether electromagnetic fields can directly or indirectly contribute to symptoms or discomfort among video display terminal ( VDT) workers. Furthermore, we have measured light modulation from various commonly used light sources in laboratory conditions and, as a second step, used modulated light as stimulus for provocation of neurophysiological responses in persons with perceived “electrical hypersensitivity” (EHS). 3. 8. Office Landscapes for Well-being. Interrelations between employee, activities, spatial attributes and context

    Författare :Antonio Cobaleda Cordero; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : The study of employee well-being in relation to office landscapes has gained greater interest in the recent years, although research on the construct of well-being has been increasingly developing in the field of Positive Psychology since the 1960s. However, the impact of office landscapes on employee well-being has often been addressed from perspectives such as health, satisfaction, happiness, comfort, etc. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Distribuerade datorsystem; Mobile and Pervasive Computing;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the question of how a scalable, distributed teamwork environment should be designed and realized. Central design criteria includes that the system should be scalable and robust, allow for easy access and be symmetric. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Interventions for increased physical activity among office workers

    Författare :Viktoria Wahlström; Lisbeth Slunga-Järvholm; Tommy Olsson; Therese Stenlund; Fredrik Öhberg; Andreas Holtermann; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; physical activity; sedentary behavior; office workers; office design; intervention; treadmill workstation; objective measurements; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The positive association between physical activity (PA) and health is well established. Technical developments in modern life have created major changes in our societies and working life, and a growing body of research has identified sedentary behavior (SB) as an independent risk factor for type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer as well as for premature mortality.
