However, despite helping to improve mental health and well-being, far from everyone seem to benefit. In some cases, negative effects may also emerge. LÄS MER
2. On CXC Chemokines in Endotoxin-Induced Liver Injury
Sammanfattning : Leukocyte recruitment is a rate-limiting step in endotoxemic liver injury. Leukocyte extravasation is a multistep process, supported by multiple combinations of adhesion molecules and chemokine receptors. This thesis examined the mechanisms of activation, adhesion and extravascular infiltration of leukocytes in endotoxin-induced liver injury. LÄS MER
3. Assessments of well-being in caring of patients undergoing surgery for gastrointestinal cancer. Studies of nutrition, activities of daily living and health related quality of life
Sammanfattning : The aim was to study some aspects of patients´ well-being, related to nutrition, activities of daily living and health related quality of life, when undergoing major gastrointestinal cancer surgery. Chart documentations (N=45) of patients undergoing subtotal pancreatectomy were studied, and showed the patients' well-being to be affected, although it was not possible to fully evaluate the results of the assessments and the care given. The karyotypic pattern, i.e. LÄS MER
5. Transvascular fluid exchange with application to the brain. An experimental study in cat skeletal muscle and brain
Sammanfattning : This study evaluated transcapillary fluid exchange in the cat brain and in a cat skeletal muscle enclosed in a plethysmograph. A method for determination of capillary permeability (capillary filtration coefficient and reflection coefficient) and effects of transcapillary hydrostatic pressure changes were studied We found that capillary fluid permeability in a tissue can be determined by the capillary filtration coefficient, even when arterial pressure and vascular tone are changed.
