16. Central retinal vein occlusion: Cetrain risk factors, electroretinography and an experimental treatment model
Sammanfattning : The presence of activated protein C resistance, plasma hyperhomocysteinemia and the MTHFR C677T mutation in patients with central retinal vein occlusion were investigated and compared to a control group. Activated protein C resistance was overrepresented in the group of patients less than 50 years of age whereas this was not the case in patients more than 50 years of age. LÄS MER
17. Endovascular occlusion methods in non-traumatic cardiac arrest
Sammanfattning : Approximately 10% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients survive to hospital discharge. An important factor for survival is perfusion to the coronary and cerebral circulations during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). LÄS MER
18. Resuscitative Endovascular Balloon Occlusion of the Inferior Vena Cava (REBOVC) : Experimental and clinical studies
Sammanfattning : Juxtahepatic venous injuries often cause life-threatening hemorrhagic shock, the mortality is high and new management methods are needed. The aims were to explore endovascular methods for retrohepatic vascu-lar isolation, their effects on survival, hemodynamics, metabolism, end-organ damage and bleeding, and if ultrasound and anatomical land-marks could be used to guide placement of resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the inferior vena cava (REBOVC). 19. Bone conducted sound transmission for communication systems
Sammanfattning : Bone conducted (BC) sound is vibrations in the skull bone that are transmitted to the cochlea and perceived as sound, originating from a sound field or a vibration transducer. This transmission path can be advantageous for communication systems in some situations, e.g. LÄS MER
20. Experimental cardiopulmonary cerebral resuscitation : A study of cerebral perfusion with special reference to the postresuscitation disturbances
Sammanfattning : Ischemic neuronal injury continues to be a major delimiting factor in achieving successful clinical outcomesafter resuscitation from cardiac arrest. In this thesis, a pig model of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) wasused to address the effects of different interventions on cerebral blood flow and oxygenation during CPR and theinitial postresuscitation period.
